Ritz: St. Thomas or San Juan Puerto Rico... concerns with both

hi,
posting on behalf of a friend who will be travelling in the last week in January (a few weeks from now).

Kids Club is a priority.

Could anyone comment on the construction in St. Thomas? Is it noisy? intrusive?

about the Ritz in San Juan, is it in an area of skyscrapers? this would be a definite detraction. Is the noise from the airport disturbing?

Can anyone recommend one of these over another. Also, she is open to any resort that has a nice kids club and is of a fairly luxurious nature.

thanks!!

ps: probably someplace easy to travel to from Boston with easy flights is the best.

also, just curious if she should also consider The Ritz Carlton in Grand Cayman.

Does anyone know how these compare?

Another place that looked interesting to me is the One and ONly Club in Bahamas.

thanks,

Boston flights direct to both St. Thomas and San Juan...

try Wyndham Resort St. Thomas.
Or West Resort St. John has kids club

San Juan airport noise is a relative personal thing--yeah-the airport is a 1/2 mile away from Ritz

Ritz construction at hotel is finished and open.

Stayed at Ritz PR and thought it was a disgrace for a Ritz. Such a rip off, a/c broke all night and came home with the flu from staying in the club there and them not sterilizing glasses properly. Cant speak for ST. The Ritz in Naples Florida was very nice.

I would definitely recommend the Ritz in St. Thomas, we went there for 10 days in June/July and absolutely loved it, and that's when the construction was really in full gear (supposedly the construction should be done by now). While one of the buildings somewhat close to the beach was being partially demolished/reconstructed at the time of our visit, it really wasn't disruptive or loud. While I can't say much about the Kids Club, we saw staff with a group of children walking around the gardens, watching the iguanas and such- and the kids all seemed very happy. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are nice, views are gorgeous, the service incredible- we honestly couldn't have asked for a better vacation. We're definitely going back next year.
