Ritz - Honeymoon or Disneyland!?!?

My fiance and I are considering the following resorts in Jamaica for our honeymmon in May:

- Sans Souci
- Sandals Ocho Rios Golf/Spa
- Sandals Dunn's River
- Ritz Ocho Rios

I recently stayed at the Ritz in St. Thomas and loved it - but I've read that the Ritz Ocho Rios is full of kids and not that nice.

We are not totally opposed to kids, but don't necessarily want to be surrounded on our honeymoon!

Thoughts? Recommendations?

I don't think there's a Ritz in Ochi...is there? I know the Ritz Carlton just east of MoBay...I thought that was the only one. Could be wrong of course.

The advantage to the Sandals is that there will be no children. I'd say the food and accomodation will be better at the Ritz though.

If you're talking about the one near MoBay, I can say I saw quite a few children around. Probably less of them if you are not going on a school break time....

Oops - got caught up in my Sandals Ocho Rios! You're right - I meant the Ritz MB. Thanks for the info. Think I'll head towards Sans Souci....

I think the best place would be Sans Souci based on all the trip reports I've seen and people I've talked to.

Of that list, I would go with Sans Souci. If you had the Couples resorts on the lists, it would be a harder choice. I think they tend to be a little classier than the Sandals. My choice for an AI honeymoon in Jamaica would be from the following - based on a combination of reviews and friends who have been. In no particular order: Couples Swept Away,Sans Souci, Jamaica Inn, Beaches Royal Plantation, The Caves on the cliffs of Negril(http://www.islandoutpost.com/Caves/photos.htm) or a villa at Tryall. If money were no object, I'd do Goldeneye in Oracabessa. Take a look at the reviews at www.tripadviser.com There is a good bit of info there.

Ritz can have a lot of children any time of year. During school season you'll find mostly toddlers and infants.

Of the other 3, I would say San Souci definitely looked the nicest (never stayed there though). We've stayed twice at the Jamaica Inn next to Sans Souci and are going back again in May. Love that place!

The only Ritz in Jamaica I know of is about 12 miles east of Montego Bay. I stayed there a year ago and it was FABULOUS!!! We went in May as well, and there were few kids. Beautiful resort, super friendly staff, knowledgable concierge service. I highly recommend you stay on the Club Level -- which is semi-inclusive. Otherwise, drinks and food can be pretty pricey.
