Well then maybe this is a good place to discuss the Aruba thing without having it removed!
|
and politics!!!
|
I adore Jamaica and its people - been 3x in the past and NEVER felt unsafe. Personally, I've felt much more unsafe in Mexico, Cayman, and the Bahamas! I can't describe it, but the Jamaicans are so warm and friendly, they REALLY want you there - they don't treat u like a crappy tourist who they can take advantage of. We're going for our honeymoon in 2 weeks and I can't wait to get back there!

Well, Liza and Marion, let's discuss Natalee, then, shall we?
Hmmm...Is she still alive and in Aruba? Did Natalee even go to Aruba? What exactly happened on that night when Natalee disappeared in Aruba? What about Joran Van der Sloot? Does he know what happened to Natalee during or after the time they were together on the beach in Aruba? And what's with the mother of Natalee? Did she really know who Natalee was? Did anybody know who Natalee was? Let's see...mayhap that will do the trick Liza! |
JAGIRL,
I think the problem is with such a long, long, long thread with some good advice that the editors (if they do anything) will simply delete our comments :-( After all the last post before tonight was over 6 months ago! |
You DO NOT want to go to Jamaica for your honeymoon. We stayed at a fancy resort and it was fenced in with military patrols and attack dogs guarding the perimeter. We did travel all over the island by car (there is only Hwy 1) and found locals to be friendly...BUT we were very careful where we went. Under no circumstances do you want to ride on local transportation as we have done all over the caribbean . I recommend the ABC islands (Aruba especially).

Of course , Aruba , spotless reputation.

Military patrols and attack dogs? Where did you stay? The army camp? I second Auba for its spotless reputation as well...zero crime rate. |
I can honestly tell you to re-think the Jamaica honeymoon. We spent 2 weeks in Negril and it was the most fascinating and wonderful place on the planet. We were never afraid or anything, either daytime or nighttime. We ventured off the property during the day and the night and never once had a problem. You'll never know how much you love Jamaica if you don't try it.
It's all in your attitude - really ! |
Apparently Natalee got very, very drunk (she started drinking at 12 in the afternoon and never stopped) and had an accident while out with Joran van der Sloot and the Kapoe brothers. Probably alcohol poisoning... They panicked and buried her somewhere on the island. Anyway, that is what was reported on Dutch tv awhile ago - sounds sort of likely to me, but as far as I know the body has still not been found, and probably the real truth will never be known.

Fodors Gods: please delete this thread. Pretty please?
