Restaurants on Elbow Cay?
We will be staying on Elbow Cay in June. Can anyone offer recent restaurant recommendations? THX!
|
Cap'n Jacks and don't miss Vernon's Store and Bakery!
|
Where are you staying? In the White Sound area, both Sea Spray and the Abaco Inn have good restaurants. In Hopetown, in addition to Captain Jack's (my favorite), try Harbour's Edge and the Hopetown Harbour Lodge.

Thanks you for the tips. We will be staying at the Hopetown Harbour Lodge. Can't wait!
|
If you are renting a boat during your stay be sure to take a trip down to Little Harbour for lunch at Pete's Pub. Otherwise you already got the recommendations I would make. Just thinking of Key Lime Pie from Vernon's store makes my mouth water!

Thanks ishkribbl. We will have a little 17' Boston Whaler to do some exploring with our two girls. I need to review where Little Harbour is. :-)

I am sure that the (boat) rental company will give you some kind of map but hopefully your rental house will have a copy of the Dodge guide to "Cruising the Abacos" which is wonderful help in boating down there. You can find one stateside in some marine stores or order it online for about $25 but your rental house may have one for your use. If the weather is nice and calm, be sure to go to Pete's- have a great time- you will love it in the Abacos!

OOPs- I just saw that you will be at Hopetown Harbour Lodge (good choice) instead of a house but I would bet they have one there you can look at. The pool, pool bar/grill area and beach there are very nice- good conch fritters!

Hi again ishkribbl. Thanks for the added info. I actually ordered that book and devoured it some time ago - I just had to get it back out (which I would be doing soon anyway - can't wait ). I see now where Little Harbour is and a picture of Pete's on page 141. Looks great! Can you give me some idea of how long it might take to get there from Hopetown w/ our 70HP motor?

Another great source of information is the morning 'Cruiser Net'on VHF 68 at 0815.Definitely listen to it if you plan a trip to Little Harbour. You want to be aware of the weather.

Thanks RobertoB. Will do. I suspect that this is important no matter which harbour we may visit or is Little Harbour a bit more tricky? My husband is reading "Cruising...." as I write!
