Restaurants

Hello! I am going to Bermuda over July 4th weekend. Does anyone have good restaurant recommendations?

cmcfong May 5th, 2005 07:59 AM

Yes. Aqua at Ariel Sands, the dining room at Waterloo House, Fresco's in town, Ascots at the Royal Palms, the dining room at Fourways Inn. For more casual dining try the HogPenny Pub in town. A brand new restaurant, Silk, has just opened in town (by which I mean Hamilton, sorry) and is highly touted in this month's CN Traveler. It is a Thai restaurant.

We enjoyed La Coquille in Hamilton.

I like La Coquille, as well. An embarrassment of riches....

We got back last night: Waterlot Inn was our favorite. It does have a rather clubby feel to it, FYI. Tom Moore's Tavern was also wonderful.

Another fantastic restaurant (that is not overly touristy!) is called Rustico and is located in Flatts Village. It is wonderful Italian, fresh local fish, steak or chicken. They have really nice thin pizzas. Service is great! Nice wine list. Smart casual. Definitly my favorite restaurant on the island!
Also check out Bistro J. it shares a kitchen with Port O Call and it is a differnt menu every day with a five choices that are all wonderful! Wonderful service, food is always great as is the atmosphere! Also smart casual! I hope this helps! Also make sure to head down to Elbow Beach for Fireworks!

cmcfong-You named all my favorites!!!
I would also like to add Port-O-Call in Hamilton! I am looking forward to trying Silk, they had just opened when we were on the island in October. Samw owner as Aqua, and Frescos.

I have not been to the Fourways Inn
for a few years, how is it? I have also heard good things about Cocconuts
at The Reef.

Ascots is my favourite. Not sure if it is still there but for something more informal try Bistro J's which is down an alleyway off of Front Street and is part of Port O Call. Tables are close together and it does get busy but it all adds to a great atmoshere. The food is great and reasonaby proced (for Bermuda) and the staff are really friendly.

Penny, I just saw your question about Fourways. I have been in Hawaii for a couple of weeks and didn't check the message board.
Fourways Inn makes the dining room its priority, the hotel service is an afterthought. Despite that, I love it. I usually go the week before Christmas, the weather is nice enough to enjoy breakfast on the patio. Breakfast is a basket of pastries, a platter of fresh fruit and excellent coffee. It is brought to the room along with the morning paper. Great way to start the day. The hotel room is very large and well appointed. Oddly enough each room also has a kitchen with stove, micro and fridge. A nice bonus for Bermuda.
The dining room is absolutely terrific. The menu is wide, the food outstanding and excellent service, friendly, informed and not at all "gushy". It is expensive, but in my view, worth it.
Cheers.
