restaurants

We will be traveling to Aruba over Christmas with three kids. We enjoy good restaurants that have kids selections as well. The kids can actually sit pretty long(about 1 hour). What would you recommend,
and approximately how much is a typical bill?
Denise

First of all, what ages are your 3 children and what hotel will you be staying at? Do you prefer any particular type of cuisine? That information would be of some help in recommending restaurants.

Hi Marilyn,
My kids are 6, 7, and 9 years old. We enjoy Seafood,Italian, Steaks and Mexican. I am not sure what type of cuisine Aruba specializes, in however we would be open to trying it. The kids like typical kids meals and steaks and grilled fish. I am looking forward to your suggestions.
Denise

Madame Janette's is a reasonable restaurant with many choices such as chicken, fish, steak, etc. The food and service are excellent, however, you will either need a car or a cab to get there from the low-rise and high-rise hotel areas. The French Steakhouse (@ Manchebo Beach Resort) has a 5-course Ambassador Special for $29.95 per person (for you and your husband - it also includes a bottle of wine per couple). The children can order from the regular menu. Villa Germania (@ Seaport) is quite reasonable and they have excellent German cuisine. Tony Roma's (across from the Holiday Inn) is reasonable for chicken, ribs, etc. Cafe Baci (@ Wyndham) has very good and reasonable Italian cuisine. These are about the only reasonable places I can think of right now where feeding a family of 5 will not cost you a fortune. Good luck and have a wonderful trip.

Madame Janette's (sp) is the best on the island. The food is excellent, and the prices reasonable. I honestly cannot remember what we spent, but it was cheaper than some of the lousy "chain" places on Palm Beach.
Enjoy!

I agree with the above posters regarding Madam Janette's. We just returned 10-18 and had the pleasure of having our last evening's dinner there. The service is outstanding, especially from my favorite waiter Job. The food is excellent and there are many wonderful dishes with a wide variety of tastes and prices for everyone. Prices range from 10.00 usd to 26.00 and it is true that you can get a fantastic meal for less than the price of many of the chain restaurants. Try the almond grouper if they have it on the menu...it's out of this world. I did observe children there and even small ones that went "exploring" were were not a bother to the staff. A very family-orientated and friendly place to eat. Try the seating outside, and definately book ahead as they are only getting more popular. Try it you won't be dissapointed. We always try to eat there a couple of times whenever we are In Aruba.

El Gauchos has the best steak ever! Make a reservation when you arrive.

Thanks for the responses. Madame Janatte's sounds great. I have also heard that El Gaucho's is very good. We can't wait to try them. Thanks again!
Denise
