Please recommend your fave casual and upscale restaurants on St. Thomas and St. John. We're planning on a mix during our visit. Thanks in advance for your opinions!

And apologies - I should've noted the islands I was referring to in the title of my post.

We enjoyed ZoZo's at Gallows Point on St.John. Also, if you're on St.John and looking for some amazing BBQ- Joe's BBQ is a small spot to grab a delicious meal- plastic utensils, sometimes a long wait- but totally worth it!!! places like that really make me miss St.John!!! Have fun!

For upscale dining on St. Thomas, try Havana Blue (located at the Marriott Morningstar Beach resort but separately run) -- great South Beach-type vibe and high-end fusion cuisine. We loved it.

On St. Thomas also, more suggestions -- for good Italian food, try Virgilio's (mid-priced, in town), East End Cafe (casual, in Red Hook), and Romano's (higher end, more gourmet, on the eastern side of STT) -- For good but basic fish, we liked Off the Hook (in Red Hook) and Agave Terrace (east end). Blue Moon Cafe (at Secret Harbor on east end) is good for a nice dinner with a varied menu, right on the water with great sunsets. In town, for fancy dinners, go to Craig & Sally's (expensive, eclectic) and Herve.

We were in St John 2/2007 for a week and went to Rhumb Lines Restaurant Meada's Plaza Cruz Bay 3 times. Swings that are bar seats and fantastic food!

Has anyone tried The Old Stone Farmhouse on STT? We are going to St John in May and heard some great things previously about it and would like to hear recent observations for an upscale dining experience.

While in Cruz Bay don't miss Woody’s for some simple but great blackened chicken sandwiches; the Lime Inn for a nice dinner (whole jerked fish); and Sogo's for Caribbean faire (conch in butter sauce). While in Coral Bay do not miss the local night scene at Island Blue's for great food and good live music, Aqua Bistro for lunch or dinner, and drive out to Miss Vie's Snack Shack for some garlic chicken and conch fritters. If you go do not miss taking the weekend ferry (Fr, Sat, Sun) to Jost Van Dyke (BVI)e which is an island that only got electricity in the 90's. Once on Jost spend the day on White Bay and then head over to Foxy's for some lunch (Chicken Roti!) and then catch the ferry back around 3:00pm. But remember Jost is in the British Virgin Islands (BVI’s) so check into the documentation they require because we always just bring our passport. Have Fun!

We visited Old Stone Farmhouse in February. The restaurant is lovely and romantic. The food is excellent. Very upscale.

havana blue is an outstanding dining experience. wonderful food in a gorgeous spot. try to book a table at sunset, by a window if available.
blue moon cafe is directly on the beach, does 3 meals daily. they have a good beach bar as well that serves lunch and apps.
romano's italian. we liked the food. interesting atmosphere - the owner/chef hangs his own paintings.
sunday brunch at the ritz is "an event" - very pricey but they offer everything from eggs to caviar to sushi to baron of beef. not to mention a table of yummy sweets. we had bloody mary's by their infinity pool before we ate....

My husband and I went to St. John for our honeymoon back in Jan'08--it was fabulous and we can't wait to go back. I'd have to say that the MANY choices in restaurants is something that we thoroughly enjoyed.
I would highly recommend sitting in the bar/lounge of Zozo's (it's probably one of the highest spots on the island for dining) and go around sunset....we have awesome pictures from our dinner there. It was a little pricey, but well worth it.
We also ate twice at the Roma Cafe, I think it was called...fantastic olive topenade with homemade baked bread...and great salads/pizzas.
We too, drove out to the other side of the island while on one of our snorkeling/beach exploration trips and ate at Vie's Snack Shack. The fried chicken (not something I usually eat) was unbelievably good! I also have to mention that our fanciest meal was at Asolare...next to our Inn (Estate Lindholm) and both of our meals were great...I had a salmon dish and my husband had a lamb dish I think.
