I have going to the Caymens for the last 25 years. MY dad used to own property on 7mile beach, before it was built up and the best restaurants then and still are, are the Grand Old House, jacket and ties and loads of cash used to be required, the Lobster Pot, and the Lighthouse, be aware that several tears ago the Lighthouse did not have a menu. The chef personally came to the table and told you what he had and inquired as to what you would like, if he had the ingrediants he would fux it for you. One of the most expensive meals I have ever had but well worth it. I definetly plan on going back to GC when I move back to the states from europe.

For lunch there's a wonderful grill at Rum Point (outdoors). Plan to spend a half day or more at Rum Point, enjoying the atmosphere, snorkeling, lounging in the hammocks, etc.

I second the Lighthouse and the Edge!!! Great places and not too expensive! You're in for a treat in the Caymans almost ANYWHERE that you go!

Just got back. Awful weather but great food. Never had a bad meal. It's expensive but not any more than the other islands and the quality is much, much better. Smugglers Cove is superb. Deckers, their sister restaurant, is also good but without the atmosphere. The Wharf was excellent as was the Calypso Grill. We had lunch at the Lighthouse and it was fine but kind of a long drive for the evening. Chicken Chicken is marvelous take out and Eats for breakfast is very good and very cheap. Supermarkets are large and modern so if you're in a condo you can get stuff for simple meals a couple of nights.

Just got back from Grand Cayman Thursday the 9th. My family and I didn't have any trouble finding great places to dine with wonderful views. The best place to go, and we saved it for last, is the Grand Old House. Not touristy, exceptional food and fantastic atmosphere and view. We sat right out on the deck over the ocean listening to someone playing the piano with beautiful twinkling lights all over the place. It was a great memory for our last night. Ragazzi is a great little place. Wonderful service, delicious food and lovely atmosphere.

We stayed at Treasure Island. The first hotel room in there well..left a lot to be desired.. old run down room , no a/c.They had it but it was on the fritz! So they moved us to the new wing..and Illtell you it was much better. I wouldn/t stay at T.I. again but we are debating if we wanna go there for our honeymoon..to Grand Caymans again and stay at the marriot. We ate alot there.. Great food..great service...Its there or St. Lucia.
Looked alot into St. Lucia..seems the Jalousie Hilton ranks high. I dont know. Im so confused.. Do we go to Grand Caymans again? its very pricey.. but the cleanest island I have ever been on and great food. The wharf was great. Breathtaking views..but that cayman dollar is a killer. 25 percent more on EVERYTHING! BRINGS LOTS Of cash!
Help! Do you think St. Lucia would be a better pick now that we went to GC>?? SOme ideas...please! thanks!

Don't miss the Edge - a little drive from SMB, but the view and food are worth it. Don't be scared off by the road-side of the building - the food's great!

I have to that I would skip the Wharf. Food and service are ok at best, and while the view is great - go for a drink before dinner and dine elsewhere - not worth the money if you ask me.

I highly recommend The Almond Tree. I had probably my best meal in Cayman on their outdoor terrace. Service was very good also. I also liked Chicken!Chicken! because it was very good and not expensive. Worst dining experience on Grand Cayman was at a place called The Crows Nest. I don't know if it is still open as I did not see it mentioned in any of the above replies. Anyways, in 1996 Crows Nest was one of the "must dine" restaurants there. When we went the service sucked (our waitress decided to take a nap while we were dining), the food so so, but I will say the dessert was great. The view was nice, too. But I still cannot recommend it. Once again, I recommend The Almond Tree. And remember this, Cayman can be expensive, but it's all in how much YOU want to spend and your tastes. What one person calls expensive, another may think is affordable. Enjoy the Cayman Islands!

I second the negative opinion of the Crow's Nest. The service is probably the slowest I've EVER encountered.

If you go to the almond tree with a party of 4 ask for the table in the gazebo. It was the most beautiful spot to eat dinner over the coral reef, with white twinkle light all around you.

And where ever you go always sit outside....food always tastes better when you eat outside.

No one has mentioned Neptunes-a new restaurant further north near the Holiday Inn.. The italian waiters are falling over themselves to serve you, and the meal was the best we had during the ten day stay... I dare say one of my best meals ever!!
