Restaurant choices in Grand Case
 

We are staying at L'Escapade for 1 night prior to our Windspirit cruise. Looking at restaurants anad these 3 look very inviting; Le Tastevin, Spiga and Le Pressoir. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

The date is early December, sorry I didn't mention that.

I assume you are staying at L'Esplanade; L'Escapade is my husband's favorite restaurant in Grand Case (he still waxes rhapsodic over the duck with foie gras and chocolate sauce).

You can hardly go wrong in Grand Case. I haven't tried Spiga or Le Pressoir, but can confirm that Le Tastevin was excellent. 3 in our group had the prix fixe menu, which is a good value and delicious; the 4th NEEDED foie gras, so he ordered a la carte.

My favorite meal in Grand Case was at Bistrot Caraibes; in addition to the ones mentioned above, I have also enjoyed Le California and L'Auberge Gourmande, as well as several of the lolos (including Sky's the Limit and Talk of the Town).

Spiga is right down the hill from L'Esplanade. It's one of my favorite restaurants in the Caribbean. I highly recommend it!

All the above are excellent, however Spiga, though nearest to your hotel, is not in the center of the Boulevard and has no sea view, the others are central and are on the water's edge.

Add to your list my personal favorite, Bistro Caraibes, followed by L'Auberge Gourmande and Le Villa.

All are in the same block in the center of the 'restaurant area' of the Boulevard, within 30 metres of each other, but are not on the sea side of the road, so you don't have the 'romantic view ! The latter has a more restricted menu, but the food - as in all of those mentioned - is excellent. Bistro Caraibes is the smallest, and a reservation is definitely neccessary.

Another addition to the restaurant scene last year is Le Shore. It has developed a very good reputation locally, and has a completely different ambiance to all of the others. I am told that the cuisine is excellent, though I have not yet tried it myself.

I suggest that you check the respective websites, where you will find sample menus and other details of all of them.

LeShore is a great choice. Wasn't impressed with La California's food but ambiance was nice. For breakfast, crepes, croissants, fresh bread...don't miss L'Ile Flottante at the fork in the road at the entrance to Grand case. Much better than the famous Sarafina's in Mariot. And you can't beat the prices.
