Resort is CLOSED! Need advice!
We are getting married on September 4 and wanted to honeymoon at Cap Jaluca. I just called and they are closed for Sept and Oct. I am bummed! Cuisinart was my 2nd chice and they are closed too! We decided not to go to Anguilla, so I need ideas. We had planned to spend 5 nights in St. Martin (for nightlife, shopping) then 5 nights on Anguilla for the pretty beaches and snorkeling. Where can we go that would compare? We want to do more than one island.
|
As you may have learned, they are closed because that's the peak of hurricane season. Many top Caribbean resorts close during Sept-Oct each year.
Suggest you look at what might be open on St. Bart's, St. John, BVI's, Ocean Club Paradise Island, Barbados, even Aruba (though there's nothing there which will compare with Cap Juluca). Are you set on Caribbean islands only? Mayan Riviera? Hawaii? |
I would check out Hawaii, also. 10 days is enough for 2 islands. We got married on Sept 9th and the weather in Hawaii was wonderful at that time.
|
to follow up on the Hawaii suggestions. I don't know if you are coming from the east coast but wanted to let you know that Hawaii is more reasonable than I expected. My husband wanted to go to Hawaii for your honeymoon but I thought the caribbean would be cheaper. When we researched I was suprised that it was really about the same for comparable accomodations. We did 2 islands and the inter island flights would actually be cheaper than the caribbean flights (I think).

We want to stay in the Carribean. I'm looking into Ritz Carlton in St. Thomas and a few days on St. John. Does anyone know if the club level rooms worth the extra $$?

Vacationed in St. John in September. The weather was nice, occassional 5 min showers and then beautiful sun. It is a little quite there in Sept. so be prepared to feel like you have everything to yourselves!
Have fun! |
Have you thought of Grenada - it is generally considered to be outside the Hurricane Belt. Twelve Degrees North is a small luxury resort that I have always thought would be perfect for a honeymoon. There are lots of other quality choices on Grenada as well.
|
I agree that Grenada is a good choice.
Beautiful island and wonderful people. We stayed at Spice Island (nice but a traditional hotel) but found Bel Air Plantation (romantic and just beautiful) while there and wished we had booked there instead. Next Time.... |
Why don't you try Bermuda. Perfect weather that time of year, try Cambridge Beaches, The Reefs, Elbow Beach or Pink Sands.
