B&B recommendations for honeymoon in carribean
Hello all!
Looking for some suggestions. We are planning our honeymoon for the end of October and we narrowed our choices to St John and Aruba. We spent time at St John last year for the first time (at Caneel Bay) but have never been to Aruba before. For our honeymoon we are interested in staying 7 nights at a B&B where we can save and invest more into the trip. Budget is around $1500 (give or take). The closer to the beach the better. Could you list the top 2 or 3 B&Bs at St John and Aruba? Also, what's better in your opinion: st john or aruba? thanks again for your help and insight!

In October, I'd only go to Aruba. St. John is too iffy on weather. There are a few cheaper places: MVC Eagle Beach, Manchebo Beach Resort. These are both on the beach and not B&Bs. Aruba is just not known for B&Bs. You could try Bonaire or Curacao to try to avoid hurricanes. Both those islands have cheaper lodging (but are more difficult and expensive to reach).

Actually, I can not think of any B & B's in Aruba. There are 2 resort areas. The high rise hotels on Palm Beach and the low rise hotels on Eagle Beach. All of those hotels will be on the beach. If you choose a hotel on Palm Beach, you literally just have to walk across the street for resturants, bars, entertainment or shopping. Or, just walk outside your hotel on the beach for resturants and beach bars.
The hotels on Eagle Beach are a little more spread out, so you will probably need to catch the local bus, which is easy and inexpensive.
There are some hotels that offer an all-inclusive option; all meals and drinks for a package price. However, Aruba has so many dining options, it's not a great place to go AI.
The Playa del Carmen area of Mexico right around 5th Avenue there are several hotels that offers breakfast included. Some even include dinner, but no drinks. La Tortuga, Shangri-La, etc. La Tortuga is about a 10 minute walk to the beach. If you get a beach front room at Shangri-La, when you open your door you are on the beach. However, weather in October in Mexico can be kinda iffy also.

In St John we stayed at Estate Lindholm.
It is a very pretty inn set amongst gardens up the hill from the main town and with a killer view. It is a short walk to town or to a small beach - but its on a really steep hill.
It was not 5 star luxury -- but very very nice. The room was clean and spacious and had a tiny kitchenette with fridge/sink. The view was spectacular looking over the ocean -- we brought drinks to our room and watched the sunset almost every night from our very private balcony. There were little lizards and birds on the trees around us.
The inn provides a continental breakfast in the morning (cereals, fresh fruit, toast your own bagels, etc.) Its simple but perfectly satisfying. There is a really small pool which we never used. Best of all they have an honor bar (to fix your own drinks) at reasonable prices and they provide you with towels, beach chairs and coolers for the beach which we found invaluable.
Good luck and congrats on getting married!
