Reefs vs Fairmont Southampton?

Hello.

I'm hoping to head to Bermuda in August. Our group will consist of: me, my 70-something mom, a 4th grader, and a 2nd grader. We are looking for: decent food options, kid-friendly (or at least kid-tolerant), ideally has a few activities, and no need to drive anywhere. Would either the Reefs or Fairmont be a good choice for us? And why choose one over the other? Any other hotel suggestions are most appreciated.

Thanks very much!

The Fairmont is a large, beautiful hotel and the Reefs is small. I think with a 4th grader and a 2nd grader you would enjoy the Fairmont more. There will be more families there and more activities geared towards families. The Reefs is lovely, but you will see more couples at the Reefs and fewer, if any, children.

We visit Bermuda annually and have probably been 25 or 26 times, but we have never visited with children.

Also, visit the Bermuda forum on Tripadvisor. They are more active on Bermuda topics there.

Select "Bermuda"

Grotto Bay would also be comfortable with children but I would prefer the FSH over Grotto Bay.

I agree with the post above. The Reefs seems to cater mostly to couples.

My family had a great stay at The Fairmont Southampton. The hotel is within walking distance of one of Bermuda's pink beaches - if you're in decent shape -, though the hotel used to provide trolley service back and forth, too.
