Recos of what to do in Antigua?

My girlfriend and I are heading to Antigua at the end of the week. We decided to stay at Curtain Bluff so it looks like we will be on the South side of the island. I was hoping some people could provide a few "have to do" things. We are in our 30's and are fairly active.

Last question - is it easy to get around in taxis or should we rent a car?

Thanks!

Sorry, would also love a few restaurant recos? That highlight really good or local food. Thanks!

Make sure you get to English Harbour and visit Nelson's Dockyard.

Rent a car definitely. Shirley Heights/Nelsons Dockyard is very interesting, we also enjoyed stingray city and would recommend visiting in the morning. Also a day trip to Montserrat and a boat trip that circumnavigates Antigua. Found it hard to find a good restaurant outside of hotels, there is one that is popular at Shirley Heights lookout and many others in that area and also at Jolly Harbour. We went to one near Redcliffe Quay in St Johns which was in a converted warehouse but it doesnt appear to be there anymore.
We found Bettys Hope to be interesting, although many are disappointed because they expect to see more ruins.
