Recommendations please!
My husband and I are planning a beach/resort trip April 4-9th (5 nights) and can't decide where to go. (I am 25 and he is 31.) I've gotten recommendations to go to Cancun, but my husband fears it will be full of spring breakers. We are looking for the following:
great beaches luxury hotel w/ spa nice pool/infinity pool great food nightlife no kids! budget $3500-4000 flying from Boston/Prov won't do small planes don't want anything cheesy Anything you can recommend would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! |
Check out some resorts in Anguilla - that time of year may be feasible for the budget. And - it is very lovely there.
We're on our way to Barbados in a week and I'm fearful I won't find the nightlife I am used to on other trips. We have also stayed in Zihuatanejo Mexico at a lovely resort. I personally like the caribbean beaches better - but the resort was very nice and upscale. T |
Hi, love your "handle" - everybody says I live to travel too! I would recommend you look into St. Barts. It fulfills all your requirements. You can fly into St. Maarten and take the ferry so you don't have to fly. You have your choice of luxury hotels or villas, the food is fantastic (some say the best in the Caribbean) and it's more of an "adult" destination than some of the other islands. It was one of our best vacations.

I'd have to ditto Anguilla. Short ferry ride from St. Martin, great beaches, wonderful hotels, good food.

Just thought I would mention that you have chosen Easter week which is a big time out for schools for spring break (not colleges, elementary and secondary schools). We are off that week and are headed to Puerto Rico.
Aruba has some nice hotels, the more luxurious ones will have kids there (Hyatt, Radisson and Marriott) The Bucuti Resort discourages kids. Aruba has nightlife, good food and nice beaches. It is also a direct flight I believe from Boston. Anguilla mentioned above has great beaches, but for 5 days, you will have to transfer in ST. Marten and ferry over or puddle jumper it. If you don't like small planes, I suggest you check out what airlines fly where direct. Puerto Rico, Grand Cayman, Aruba, St. Thomas would most likely have directs. Good luck. |
Provo (tuks and caicos) is I beleive a direct/quick flight from Boston. Grace bay is rated as one of the top ten in the caribbean. Many "adult" hotels to choose from. The Palms, Somerset, Grace Bay Club etc. The island also has a pretty good selection of restaurants. Should fit your budget.

Grand Cayman is an elegant island where you should be able to find some privacy from kids and still find a nice hotel. The ocean is great there and the dining is the best we've had in the Caribbean. There is nightlife to immerse yourselves in. It doesn't have the mystique or magic that some of the other islands have, but it's easy to get to.
