Recommendations

My work is awarding me a trip for 5 days to the Caribbean (up to $5000 all expenses).

I'm looking for recommendations on your favorite resorts or Islands and why. We have already been to St. Lucia, so we'd like to see someplace new.

Please help. Thanks!

Suzanne

Sandals Negril Jamaica!

You should go to St. Johns Island USVI. This is a beautiful island that is fairly secluded with gorgeous beaches. Beaches are one of the main attractions, so you must like the water.
The only way to get to the island is by boat from St Thomas USVI. Take a day snorkeling trip on Limnos or other boat and go to the Baths at The British Virgin Islands.

I second Sandals NEgril - are better yet, Grand Lido Negril.

Another good choice would be on a cruise.

Rent a "cottage suite" for two at DRAMBUIE ESTATE,the former Winston Churchill property in a coconut plantation on a mountaintop overlooking Bogue Harbor & MoBay skyline.Have Mr.P.cook for you,Tutu destress you with Swedish massage.Hire Barrett Adventures,a private excursion guide able to take you inside Jamaica to just about anything you fancy. It's luxe,private,non-tourist non-resort Jamaica;and it easily fits your travel budget. See DRAMBUIE ESTATE and other holiday property rentals including unusual villas, cottages,b&bs island-wide at www.jamaicaescapes.com

Pink Sands - Harbor Island, Bahamas.

Or if you can go to Belize - Cayo Espanto. A private island - only 14 guests on island at a time. You have your own private butler. This place is phenomonal - check it out - www.yourownprivateisland.com

I'm sorry - Cayo Espanto's website is:

www:aprivateisland.com

I haven't been - a former coworker of mine went for her honeymoon last year and absolutely loved it. I am hoping to go sometime in the next year. Need to save up for this one.

Hello -

I have done both-resorts and cruises. If you have not done a cruise, it is your best bet.I love Royal Caribbean-just came back from my third cruise with them. Try Southern Caribbean - leaving from San Juan, you get to go further south and see more exotic islands. If you do want a resort, try Barbados or St.Lucia.St.Thomas is nice, but way too commercial and crowded.I really love St.Martin, too - stay on the French side; Orient Beach is beautiful.Try www.frommers.com, or www.caribbean.com.Have fun!

Thanks for the suggestions so far! I'm overwhelmed as I love the Caribbean and just can't decide.

My husband and I probably do want a resort. We are coming from the Baltimore area, so we'd like to have a short or easy flight to maximize the time we have in the Caribbean. We are in our low 30's, so like to hang with people our age. We're not sure we want to be around a place where there are tons of kids, as we don't have kids.

We like a nice pool, beach, water activities, good food, and lots of sun!

Hoping to hear more suggestions. Thanks.
