Really calm, clear water, which island?
I have little kids so some places won't work. Anyone have a favorite spot for calm, clear water. We probably won't dive so it doesn't matter. Turks and Caicos looks good but I want people's opinions. Thank you!

We have been to almost every island and love Turks & Caicos so much...have been there many times ! Calm, clear water...perfect for children on Grace Bay beach. Check out The Somerset, www.thesomerset.com Zero entry pool is great for kids...resort is offering free nite now. NOTHING compares to Turks IMO.

That is how most beaches in St. John were when we were there. If one was a little wavey, just drive to next one & probably calm. Also, Riviera Maya resort we stayed at (Barcelo Maya) had very calm beautiful beaches too. Hard to predict the wind though. We are heading to Grand Cayman & have hearrd good things about their beaches too.

The most consistently calm, clear water I have encountered has been in the Turks and Caicos.

I agree Turks and Caicos. Second choice, Grand Cayman's 7 Mile Beach.
|
I agree Turks and Caicos or Grand Cayman. Both have great water, and are very family friendly.
|
Negril's Seven Mile Beach also has gorgeous turquoise colored calm water. My kids loved it when they were little, and still enjoy it now!

Thanks you guys. This is helpful. I was also thinking Anguilla looks nice too.

Anguilla does have excellent water.
with kids though, I give the edge to Turks and Caicos-for many reasons: Easy to get to. If there is the crazy misfortune that Grace Bay Beach is wavy (extremely rare, but weather happens!) there is always Sapadilla Bay and Taylor Bay, which are always calm, and super shallow (thigh high to waist high on my 7 year old) for hundreds of yards-- kids get giddy here. There will be other kids to hang with, and beach toys galore. I've been 6 times to Virgin Islands, 7 times to Anguilla, I've been to Negril, Grand Cayman twice, Rivera Maya/Mexico 3 times, and in all my travels, T&C always was the most consist with calm and clear-quite frankly, it is the most beautiful water in the world. Anguilla is one of my favorites, but harder to get to, not as kid friendly as T&C. (I have taken my child to Anguilla, she loved it-but I still give T&C the edge for children-even for restaurants.) T&C has putt putt mini-golf, kids clubs, water banana boats, and other families with children; while I don't know how old your kids are, there are excursions that children trully enjoy-like to iguana island and snorkeling for sand dollars or thigh high water diving for conch. |
This is all very helpful, it sounds like Turks is the best for our family. Thanks very much!

The name of the Island you want is Provo, one the the T&C Islands.
|
I just returned from T&C. We must have hit an "off "week as far as the water goes. It was clear, but not calm on Grace Bay. I've seen much calmer waters in the USVI, BVI and Anguilla. I agree that Anguilla may not be the best for children. In St. John there are many gorgeous beaches with calm clear water and you don't have the resorts lined up all along the beach like in T&C.
