Radisson Cable Beach and snorkeling
Are there any good places to snorkel along Cable Beach? We will be going to the Radisson. Can anyone give comments on the beach there? Are the waves calm? Your responses are all appreciated!!

Becky; The beach is real nice, and connects with Atlantis and further to parts unknown. Neat Caribean pines for shade in spots. My wife, daughter and I snorkeled off of it, to the buoys offshore. Waters were up to 25 out there with deeper crevaces. Saw reef fish like sargeant majors, some baby baracuda which follow you around like curious dogs, a few caribbean squid, one octopus, a few angel fish, a school of bar jacks coming in quick to feed on the silversides, and damselfish. It was nice if you've never experienced it. Here's a tip: Bahama Divers is a scuba diving operation which is established and has been running for over 25 years. They conduct snorkeling tours in their afternoon, shallow dives, for a modest fee, and will pick you up and deliver you back to the Radison. Great snorkeling dives in shallow reefs with them, and the divemasters go in the water with you. They have a website and toll free number, just punch in the name on Yahoo. If you have any questions contact me. Have a good time.Robert

The Radison is on Cable Beach and not next to the Atlantis (which is on Paradise Island)!. There is some snokeling just off the beach by a rock grouping/peir. Better snorkeling at Rose Island.

Sorry for confusing the hotel names noted above. Curious, what IS the hotel the next up from Atlantis, on the same side of the street. Please advise, Robert

I think it's the Sheraton.

HI BECKY....
CABLE BEACH IS LOVELY AND IN PARTICULIAR AT THE RADISSON. IT IS CALM AND CLEAR...AS FOR SNORKELING NOT MUCH TO SEE RIGHT AT THE RADISSON, BUT THERE ARE TOURS AND RECOMMENDATIONS AS TO WHERE TO GO..WAS TOLD ON PARIDISE ISLAND SNORKELING IS BETTER...THAT'S A 15 MINUTE CAB RIDE (COSTS ABOUT $15.00) OR YOU CAN TAKE THE BUS TO BAY STREET AND THEN THE FERRY-$3 GOOD LUCK..LENORE

B is correct I believe. The Sheraton is close to Atlantis on Paradise, not Cable Beach.

Becky, there isn't alot of snorkling off the beach at CAble Beach, too many jet skis and parasailing to attractthe fish.

I would suggest taking the snorkle trip to Rose Island, it is not expensive I think it's $35 pp and includes lunch and drinks (rum punch), you can lay around on the beach or hammocks or snorkle to your hearts content. The water is fairly shallow for a distance out and some good fish to see. Bring some bread to feed the fish.

The Raddison is very nice and beautiful grounds. It is right next door to the Marriott and the casino there. The next hotel down the beach is the Nassau Beach and there is an excellent restaurant there Johnny Canoe's, get the conch there, it's great.

Take the bus to downtown, the #10 bus
route. It runs from 7am to 7pm and it's only $0.75pp.

On Cable Beach, there is also the Poop Deck, for great Seafood and the Rock and Roll CAfe, (ok food, but some fun nite life)

Have a great trip and if I can be of any help, let me know. I know the Bahamas very well.

tweedy
