Radisson Cable Beach
 

Hi,<BR>planning a honeymoon and this place is top 3 in the running. Any info, good or bad, is appreciated. I heard it is top-notch after the recent renovation? A bit worried about the food quality, but I am sure we'll be fine. Any do's or don't while in Nassau or the Radisson?<BR>thanks

Can't say whether or not I'd want my honeymoon there (that's your call) but I took a walk over there last Friday night (the 4th) and can tell you this:<BR><BR>* The outdoor facilities and beach appear to be in good shape;<BR>* There was a band (or DJ) inside and many people were dancing to the "latest hits";<BR>* There was a large, happy crowd at the bar outside for karaoke;<BR>* There is at least 1 pool table and 2 ping pong tables next to the outdoor bar, all occupied;<BR>* I can't play ping pong as well as I used to;<BR>* The crowd was young, 20'ish and seemed to be having fun;<BR>* I saw very few children; <BR>* No one was sulking or bitching about anything.<BR><BR>Don't forget, you've also got the Crystal Palace casino next door, and beyond that a reasonably priced restaurant called Johnny Canoe. There's also a Sbarro that, along with the usual Italian, serves local dishes like cracked conch.<BR><BR>Have fun whatever you decide!

I think you'd have a fine honeymoon there.<BR><BR>Sorry I can't give you any info on the food or rooms, but I was staying at the Nassau Beach Hotel down the road and was just passin' through.

Hi. My family stayed at Radisson for 5 days and we loved it. The beach and pools were great, the staff was friendly, and the food was ok (the best places were Bimini and the Forge. The decor was good, not the Ritz, but good. Be prepared to spend time during check-in, and do go for the all-inclusive..its beats paying $100 for diiner each night! The beach has plenty of towels and chairs (they shoo away the Marriott people) Be prepped that it takes all day to have housekepping do all the rooms and that the resorts are all unionized and there are automatic "tips" for everything (think all-incl. again). Do go downtown (cabs are $15 oneway and $1 by the #10 bus) for tourist shopping. Do go to the casino and the bars for some late night dancing, and do go on the Robinson Caurso Island Getaway. <BR><BR>Gppd luck and email me if you have more ques and congrats on your maariage!

Plus, try to get one of the rooms closer to the lobby. They set the hotel up so everyone has a beach view, so you have to walk to kingdom come to get to some of the further rooms!<BR>Ronnie

I personally would not choose the Bahamas as a honeymoon destination. If you want commercialism, a younger crowd, no real pampering, and so so food, then the Radisson in the Bahamas is for you. The Bahamas has no real "luxury properties".......Honeymoons should be special. Just my opinion.

However, you can substitute several words for "Bahamas" at the end, like Jamaica, Aruba, St. Maarten, Grand Cayman, etc., etc. If you are looking for five star resorts to celebrate your wedding you won't find many in the Bahamas (Ocean Club comes to mind but rooms START at $450/night). We've been traveling to the Caribbean, primarily the Bahamas, for 22 years now and I would not hesitate to celebrate my honeymoon there. Everything on these trips depends on your expectations. If you want a five star place you're going to pay a great deal more for it. If you want a nice vacation (honeymoons included) at a decent place with friendly people I recommend the Bahamas. We're pretty much steak and potatos people and to us food throughout the Bahamas is fine if you aren't looking for gourmet. We haven't been to Cable Beach in 4-5 years, spending most of our time on GBI now, but Radisson Cable Beach was always where we stayed, and even before the renovations we thoroughly enjoyed our stays there. That's my opinion and I hope it helps a little.<BR><BR>Danny
