Quiet & relaxing Bahamas?

Hi all! I'm doing some research for a friend who wants a short April getaway from NY. Does anyone have any recommendations for an area of the Bahamas that's on the quiet, relaxing side? TIA!

Any Out Island will meet that requirement.
All connect through Ft. Lauderdale.
I strongly recommend Exumas or Eleuthera.

I'd suggest Compas Point on Nassau as a good location. It's far enough from downtown to be laid back and will feel more like an outisland, but it's a quick 3 1/2 hour plane ride out of LGA to Nassau, and a 20 minute cab ride to the hotel. Leaving on the early am Delta flight they can be on the beach by 11am.

The www.islandoutpost.com website will give you lots of info and rates and available dates.

Hope this helps.

I'd have to agree with travelbuff, I know it's hard to believe but Nassau CAN be relaxing. Compass Point is very cute. For an even more peaceful place, look into A Stone's Throw Away - small B&B down the street from CP. Only 8 rooms & 2 suites. Stayed there for a short weekend getaway and loved it. I should have my trip report & photos up by this weekend.

Harbour Island is like Cayman used to be...way back when. My husband and I had the most fabulous "get away" there last year at this time. NY to Miami, then on to Harbour Island.

I'll second Harbour Island. Laid back but with several good restaurants a golf cart ride away!

Loved Abacos -- very laid back and beautiful quiet beaches.

If its a short weekend, I would choose the best flight times and connections.

The Westin at Our Lucya, Freeport. There are a couple different buildings on-site: get a room in the one that has the spa.

We stayed in the more active part but it was still very pleasant and relaxing.

Abaco can't be beat. The whole island is very laid back. There are lots of things to do if you want or you can make it very quiet. Marsh Harbour is the best place to stay.
