Question for poster beverlysmith re: Cayman wedding

beverlysmith,
I read your post about getting married in the Caymans WITHOUT using a wedding agency. I am getting married in the Caribbean next summer, and we would prefer not to use a wedding agency (we are already spending enough $ on travel to 2 islands, 1 for wedding and 1 for honeymoon). Where did you find your information and your wedding officiant? Thanks in advance!

Question. Why don't you want to spend your honeymoon on the same island that your wedding is? Seems odd to me... Cayman would be a lovely place for both.

Good question -- we have 2 weeks for our wedding/honeymoon and would like to experience 2 different islands. Since we are not spending the $ on a traditional wedding, and we don't know when we'll be able to take a trip like this again, we want to get the most out of it. So, we have decided on spending 1 week in 1 location with our family and friends before getting married. Then, after the wedding, our friends and family will head home, and we will head to another island for our honeymoon!

Could anyone help me with where to find a justice of the peace in the Caymans? Want to get married in the islands, but don't need to use a coordinator or wedding company... Thanks!

We used Vernon Jackson at Cayman Weddings. You need to go thru an official wedding officer to procur the paperwork, but he will do as simple a ceremony as you want. You can reach him (or hos wife) at (345) 949-8677. Good luck.

Thank you so much! Would you mind explaining the process to me quickly, and also, letting me know how much you paid?
