When we went via tour guide gotten through our hotel he kept pointing out the places where people had gone off the side of the road coming down the mountain. Left me with the feeling that I would rather have someone who knows the roads do the driving.

Hi. Three of us will be in Puerto Rico in Sept 06 for 2 days. We won't be renting a car. The El Yunque Rain Forest is something we would love to see. Is it possible to get there w/out renting a car? We don't mind the hiking since we are in pretty good shape. Thanks.

I am sure there are tours that your hotel concierge can hook you up with. It is a bit East of the city. You'll need transportation of some sort to get you out there...

If you will only be in San Juan for two days there will be plenty to take up your time...As cool as El Yunque is, it will take up the better part of a day & would be easier w/your own car. You may be better served to wait until next time. If you are visiting the Forts' in Old San Juan, go first thing in the morning & beat the crowds.
