CTcouple:

My wife and I just spent a week in Eleuthera last October. Check out our trip report and pictures by clicking on our profile and look for the thread "Eleuthera Trip Report."

Based on what I could gather, your villa is in the middle of the island near Double Bay. One thing for you to keep in mind that Eleuthera is very long and for you to trek north or south to the tips of the island it would take you about 45minutes in either direction. So don't underestimate this.

Their beaches are beautiful, and not crowded at all. We had a great time there.

Since you are renting a villa do take advantage of cooking yourself (if that's your thing), and there's absolutely no problem taking frozen meats into the Bahamas. Groceries there are expensive, and to my dismay beer is in the upwards of $35/$40 a case (Kalik). Rum is cheap though.

Not sure what type of islands that you have been but one thing is for sure. If you crave a lot of action and nightlife and such, Eleuthera would disappoint as it is quiet and sleepy. But I think my wife and I had one of the most comfortable and relaxing vacations in Eleuthera.

I hope this helps.

Regarding the frozen meat thing.....it's really no problem to fly from the US or Canada with some frozen meat in your checked luggage?
