punta cana or puerto plata

Hi, wanted to know the difference in these 2 places.

IMO the quality of the beach and water. Puerto Plata is in the Atlantic Ocean and I hated the beach. Punta Cana's beach is a better.

Punta Cana also faces the Atlantic, unless you are staying at the Club Med or Puntacana Resort, which are the only resorts on the Caribbean side of the peninsula.

THere are places on the north coast with really beautiful beaches and light surf, but the north coast of the island gets much more wind than Punta Cana.

IF THE choice is only between these and you are talking about March or April or later I would pick Punta Cana..but on the Caribbean side and my favorite it La Romana. Blue calm carribean water... just can't get enough of it.

I've been to PP and Cabarete, which are both on the north coast. Had a great time in PP years ago; but would probably not go back to either. In saying this, I've never been to Punta Cana; but I heard more good than bad... I'm a beach lover...And i was told Punta Cana is the place to go for BEACHES
