punta cana -larimar/amber?
 

Does anyone have any recommendations about where I could buy unset larimar or amber within easy reach of Punta Cana? I want to use the gems for my own jewellery-making.Rough chips would be fine also - my jewllery is contemporary. Also, I would like to know how to tell real larimar from fake? Tks. in advance for any info.

The only jewelry shop in Punta Cana I think is Harrisons.. Nobody is pushing going "to a factory".. Amber has gotten very expensive as has larimar. Perhaps, you might want to consider a trip to Santo Domingo and look around there. I'm not fond of amber, but I did buy a tiny blue amber piece years ago and also a slice of larimar..which I now realize is worth a few $$. If you ask the people at Harrisons where you could pick up some pieces they might help.
