Lots of good reviews for the Palace at debbiesdominicantravel.com
This is an cerpt from a review I wrote in Dec 2000.It deals with room locations

THE HOTEL: The Palace consists of six buildings, all U shaped, three stories high and containing 99 rooms. The buildings are designated 1000, 2000, 3000, etc. Buildings 1000, 3000 and 5000 are set back around 200 feet from the beach. The 2, 4 and 6000 buildings are set back from 30 to 50 feet from the beach. Nine rooms on each floor, all located on the base of t he U directly face the ocean. The rooms on the arms of the U have a limited ocean view or none at all. The 1 and 2 buildings are east of the reception area and the others west of the reception area. The 3000 building is closest to the pool but whatever building you are in will be only a few minutes walk to the pool. We were in an oceanfront room in the 6000 building which anchors the west end of the property. It was a five minute walk to the east end of the
complex so whatever building you are in you will be close to everything. The following are oceanfront rooms in each building: 13 to 21 on first floor, 38 to 46 on second floor and 79 to 87 on the third floor (be sure to put a thousand before the number listed (ex: 6084).

Hope this helps.
