Punta Cana; Bavaro Beach area, Dom. Rep.

My husband & I just returned from a 3 months winter stay at the above condo complex in Punta Cana, Bavaro area, Apt. #207-D rented from Reliable Realty, (Todd Williams)
Don't go there!!! warning! the apts. are in dire need of mayor renovations: they're older & nothing works, the mini splits leak water; the ceilings are chipped & leaking when it rains, we'were on the 3rd flr.; the refrig. do not drain & there's is a constant puddle of water on the bottom tray; it also freezes the foods in the refrig; the Kitchen is a pure joke, the cabinets are not regular kitchen cabinets just door fronts, including the bottom cabinets, the cooking utensils are from hunger; upper cabinets are hung so high that one can't reach inside!; the clothe dryer rack is totally broken, can't use it; so is the ironing board, can't close so it's constantly opened....The bathroom, well that's a whole different animal! the toilet is terrible dirty, the tub door enclosure track is filthy, there's a constant terrible smell in the bathroom! the lavatory is just the same;
Can't use the faucet water! not even for cooking; do not rinse your mouth with it!
Punta Cana/Bavaro area is a real disaster! The TV appears as a larger flat screen, however is merely 20" so one has to sit right in front of it to view it.
We rented a car, very expensive,US$2700.00, a very tiny car (but it has 4 wheels) the streets & rds. are full of pot holes; garbage everywhere; filthy walls all around; everyone tries to rip off the tourists; prostitution is legal, so you've these prostitutes parading the streets looking for johns, mainly tourists walking with or without their wifes or girlfriends!
The Guards on the paid highway from La Romana to Las Terrenas, rip you off for $ claiming that you're speeding when you're NOT!
A Pure disaster area, unless one goes to an all inclusive venue (a better one) DO YOURSELF A FAVOR....DON'T GO THERE!
Thiefs are everywhere! you've to be extremely vigilant at all times!
The driving in the Dominican Rep. is extremely dangerous.
The Dominican Republic ranked first in per capita fatalities with 41.7 deaths per year per 100,000 people.
Remember, it's a 3rd world Country! The USA tourism is 33% lower than previous years, most of us don't come back, other than the beautiful beaches there's nothing to do in Punta Cana/Bavaro area, The Capital Sto. Domingo is a "Jungle of cars" traffic deadlocks up to 2 hrs. although they've made some infrastructure improvements as a whole, they still have a very long way to go!

The USA Dept. of tourism should issue a high travel warning to this country.

<The USA tourism is 33% lower than previous years>

I went there 20 years ago. I came to the same conclusion : once is enough. I was at Iberostar - at the moment ok.

Guards on the road also attemtped to rip us off telling us we were speding. We said 'ok let us go to the office' and they were probably surprised and let us go.

food was bof. Staff was not undriendly but inefficient.

Sad to read it didn't change.

So sorry you had such a bad experience. Didn't you do any research into the area before you went. I wouldn't have stayed a full three months if things were really that bad.

>>Didn't you do any research into the area before you went.<<

Not here anyway.

The OP's only other post is last year topping an old thread to recommend the place he is now slamming. >)

Sorry you had such a bad experience (but is another reason I'd think it is better to actually visit something/someplace before advising others)
