Puerto Rico, which hotel is the best in San Juan???
Cost is not a factor, does anyone know the absolute nicest place to stay in San Juan? Secondly, my boyfriend and I are the type to "wing it" with no hotel reservations in advance, do you think we could end up on the streets with no where to stay? We leave October 9, 1997

Hi Annette..We got stuck in San Juan during the blizzard of '93. (can't think of a nicer place to get stuck) We were coming off of a week long cruise on Saturday and when we got to the airport ..NOTHING WAS MOVING. We got out of there PRONTO. We managed to get booked into the Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino for two nites compliments of our travel insurance ( it finally paid off) . I would recommend it highly. It's a good thing that price is no object, because it's pricey.

I was born in Puerto Rico, lived there for 25 years
and moved to the US 3 years ago. The best hotel in
San Juan is El San Juan Hotel & Casino. In Puerto Rico El Conquistador is a great resort but is about
45 minutes from San Juan. If you are going during winter, I think you may still find somewhere to stay if you don't make reservations but don't count in staying in the best hotels.
