We also fly out of Mpls. Love Hawaii and the weather. It is breathtakingly beautiful, has great food and lots to do - besides golf! You will not be bored!

Hawaii wins for me hands down. Both places are completely different, but have lots to do. I guess a lot depends on your amount to spend, where you are coming from, how long you have off, etc...
I find PR to be rather dirty and run down. Now, it has its nice spots and I have family there so I know that, but overall, it is not the prettiest of islands in general. It has good food, gambling, beaches, sightseeing, etc...

Hawaii was much nicer you don't seem to notice the poverty there or maybe it is just better hidden. Lots to do. Nice beaches and good food, sightseeing,etc...
I just liked Hawaii very much, but we are coming from the east so it is not a place we can go to often.
Both will have golf and stuff to do!

How did this change from Puerto Rico vs Hawaii to Puerto Vallarta vs Hawaii? Last I checked, Mexico is not an island lol Anyhow, depending on where you are coming from I think makes the most difference in overall cost...If you live on the west coast, you can get cheap flights to Hawaii and its an amazing destination. Stay out of the tourist areas, go to a grocery store to pick up some basic food items to skip eating out every meal and you might be able to do this for not so much. On the otherhand, if you live on the east coast, there are cheap flights from NYC, many Florida cities, and other east coast hubs to Puerto Rico. The prices on both islands are similar from my experience. Puerto Rico has a bit more exotic feel since it is Spanish speaking and Old San Juan has the forts and historic monuments. Neither requires a passport and both use the US dollar. And both places have amazing beaches, snorkeling, diving, rain forests, booze cruises. Puerto Rico does have casinos where as Hawaii does not (last I was there), but I love both places, differently.

missingsurf~~ Because someone stated that "Hawaii is definitely a more expensive vacation than Mexico" and I disagree.
