Puerto Rico Nightlife?
 

Its been suggested that staying in Old San Juan is a must for nightlife -- but my friends and I (mid-twenties) still want to stay on a beach resort~ where would be a good place to stay in order to compromise? Any suggestions? Shortest distance if at all possible from the beach resort to the city. Price wise no more than $250-300 a night, preferably! Planning to go for 5 days at end of March/early April!

That is not true. While there is great nightlife in Old San Juan and you should spend some time there (both during the day and night) there is also great nightlife in Condado and Isla Verde, both on the beach and an easy taxi ride to Old San Juan. Condado is closer to Old San Juan but Isla Verde has a nicer beach. El San Juan hotel in Isla Verde is on the beach and known for it's nightlife. Club Brava in El San Juan hotel is a very popular nightclub. In Condado check out La Concha. These are pricier options but there are cheaper alternatives in both of these areas. Both areas have many bars and restaurants

Just returned from PR - 4 nites on Condado and 2 nites in Ponce. Condado has zillions of bars and restaurants within walking distance to every major hotel and based on street noise we heard from our hotel, they shut down about 4 AM on Sat nite. Taxi to Old San Juan was about $15; to/from airport about $25.

I agree completely with genio's post. Those would be my recommendations also. La concha in condado and el San Juan in isla verde.

If you are looking for some good night life and party you should go to Brava Night Club at the San Juan Hotel and Casino in Isla Verde. Great music excellent atmosphere, just the perfect place for some fun and also very tourist friendly. The water club is also a nice place and almost every hotel have a nice night club. In the Old San Juan there is a party boat called "La Rumba" it's just crazy and super fun. Sr Frogs is also a nice and cool place to hang out in Old San Juan. You can get there easily with a taxi. Have fun and enjoy your vacations in Puerto Rico, if you have any questions you ask.
