Puerto Rico - Family Resort Help
Traveling to PR in early April with the family. Kids 5 and 7.

I am lookign for a resort witht e following features
a) Nice Beech
b) Kids Program
c) Not too far from San Juan or otherwise too isolated
d) All-inclusive feel (doesn't actually have to be all inclusive).

I can go as high as $500/night.

Any help would be appreciated.

There are only 2 (possibly 3) resorts that meet those requirements in all of Puerto Rico. You can choose between the Wyndham Rio Mar, El Conquistador, or Gran Melia Puerto Rico (which was once an all-inclusive). And of the three El Conquistador is still an hour east of San Juan. However, I'd consider all of these resorts fairly isolated in the sense that you'd need to rent a car if you wanted to explore on your own or dine off the resort property (and some, if not all, of these resorts charge for parking).

There are a lot of other resort hotels that would be perfectly fine for a family. The Courtyard Isla Verde, for instance, is a really nice hotel right in San Juan on one of the capital's best beaches, but it's definitely got more of a hotel than a resort feel. The same would be said about the other hotels within San Juan itself (at least for me).

There are a lot of good choices in the Rincon area, and a couple of good resorts on the south coast, and on Vieques, but they are further removed from San Juan.

Thanks - the El Conquistador in particular looks liek a good fit.

It's the furthest from San Juan, but it's a nice large resort and would probably meet all your needs. Do verify the pricing. It may be beyond your range for Spring Break.

El Conquistador is a very nice resort. Our family stayed when it was owned by Wyndam. They have updated it since and now have a water park:

I assume you are aware that they have a ferry that takes you to a private island, which is very nice. Some people with small children don't like the fact that the beach is not right on the property. It was not an issue for our family.

There are many restuarants on site (there were at least 7 when we visited)- but as in any resort, they will be pricey.

Luckily - we are going after spring break. The pricing looks well within our budget. Just made reserverations. Thanks.

We have 4 children, and it's hard to find nice condo/resort that will fit all of it. We also want to be on the beach. We would like to go in the summer time, probably June. Any ideas? 6 of us total. We don't have to have kids program or AI.

Do you mean in Puerto Rico? I'd suggest you look in the Rincon area, which is generally cheaper than the deluxe resorts of the island's northeast coast. Condos are especially abundant on Aruba as well. You might also check St. Maarten or St. Croix. Antigua also has some good-value places.

But with 4 kids, you may not be allowed to rent a 2-bedroom, in which case you'll find more value in renting a villa rather than a condo.
