PSV and Ivan

Has anyone heard if Petit St. Vincent suffered much damage from Ivan? I hear Palm Island did, but the specifics are not clear. I'm wondering about PSV.

I called the Florida office Wed and they had not heard yet what damage had occured. She said no one was injured but would get a damage assesment today (Thurs). Being next to Granada I'm guessing its not good -- I hope I am wrong.

I talked with Pam in the Florida office. She said they suffered damage to 2 cottages and downed trees and debris. Jeff took the schooner, Jambalaya, to the back side of Carriacou and have not heard from him yet. They will open Nov 1st but said they have a lot more to do now.
Sounds like they were pretty fortunate considering their proximity to Granada.

Thank you. The lack of information about them in all the sources I could find on the web, was disconcerting.

Hold on Jamaica, it's going to be a bumpy ride...

To IPMsMom: Perhaps the reason that you've not been able to find much info about the current staus of PSV on the internet is that the Resort is closed this time of year. The Florida Reservation Office would be the only accurate source of information.

Here's a futher update on PSV directly from the owners that I saw on TTOL:

The full force of Hurricane Ivan struck the south end of Grenada on 7th September. PSV, in the middle of the Grenadines chain between the north end of Grenada and the south end of St. Vincent experienced hurricane force winds as the storm passed south of us.

While no one at PSV was hurt by the punishing winds, many trees were felled and many others received an overdue pruning. Some beaches were damaged and others were improved. A new island was formed near Mopion of broken coral near Mopion A/K/A Petit St. Richardson. We?ve decided to name it Petit St. Ivan.

Our worst damage was to two cottage roofs, which flew off and heavy damage to the two small docks.

Our main dock is fine and considering that we have over 50 roofs here, we were lucky. No other structural damage was sustained by the two otherwise damaged cottages.

We already had our customary off season workforce here, as PSV closes every year for maintenance and refurbishing for the months of September and October.

PSV has 4 fulltime carpenters on staff and we already have three others and 12 helpers from our Annual Program on island.

All repairs will be finished prior to our 1st of November opening.

Thank you for the flood of calls and emails to our reservations office. We look forward to seeing you back this season!
