Provo ( Turks & Caicos ) tips?
We went 5 years ago. Stayed at the Ocean Club Suites (on Provo) and LOVED it. Has anyone stayed there as of late? Also, any restaurant tips? We ate at many that we loved but can't recall the names of ANY of them, other than Geckos. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. One more thing, there was a casino that was reopening, did that ever happen? Thanks, Scott

You'll be amazed at the changes in Provo after five years. Lots of new places to stay and lots of new restaurants. have stayed at ocean Club about 8 years ago. The last 9 times we stayed at Coral Gardens. If you go to www.debbiescaribbeanresortreviews.com and click on Turks and Caicos and reviews I have a review of Coral Gardens on that site with restaurant recommendations. If you want to stay with Ocean Club I would stay at Ocean Club West rather than OC. If you go to www.caribbean-on-line.com and scroll to the archives down the bottom of the page and click on Before 23 July I have my last trip report posted there on 16 June. A good source of Provo info is www.wherewhenhow.com the online magazine of the Turks and Caicos. There is a small casino at Allegro that seems to open and close at will.

We stayed at Ocean Club this last summer. It was perfect for us (we have kids and felt completely comfortable with them roaming the property). I loved how quiet the beach was, and I partially attribute that to OC being at the end of the beach. We went to Coral Gardens to snorkel and it had a lot more traffic (naturally), and Beaches - well, if you like a really "busy" atmosphere, then you'll find it at Beaches. The casino at the Allegro was open, small, a nice, brief diversion. Great restaurants were Anacaona, & Coyoba. Really good were Bacci and Calico Jack's (which was very family friendly). There was a french restaurant that was also very good with lots of palm trees. Both restaurants at the Ocean Club hotels were good. Mango Reef and the Sands hotel restaurant were also quite good. Either there are no bad restaurants on the island or we lucked out.

Good casual restaurants:
Hemingways, Tiki Hut, Danny Buoy's, Sharkbit Fine dining Simba (new), Anacaona and Coyaba. |

There were so many great restaurants featuring creative chefs. Our favorite and most unique was Coco Bistro, the palm tree place, THE best mussels! Coyoba, fine dining, beautiful seating and the beach side cafe both at Coral Gardens. Tiki Hut had the most tender and flavorful ribs, casual dockside seating, fun to walk along the docks. One night to stay in, we picked up pizza from Baci. We did not enjoy Hemingways at the Sands, too American for us after getting into the island 'groove'.
