Provo taxi prices?
We'll be on Provo in April and are trying to decide whether to rent a car for the entire period or for only part. Because of the size of our family, we'll need a minivan. Some of our party will be arrviving on a later day and leaving earlier than we will. Therefore, it might better for us to keep the minivan for our entire stay rather than paying for taxi rides. One of the deciding factors will be the cost of a taxi ride to and from the airport. Is the cost per person, or would it be the same for 2 persons? Is it better to arrange for a taxi ahead of time? Does anyone have a recommendation for a particular taxi company? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

where are you staying? Most resorts include airport transfers. Also if you are on the gecko shuttle route, that's the way to go.

Hi, Blamona,
We will be staying at the Tyler Guest House. It is part of the Maryland Compound, which consists of three houses on Grace Bay Beach. I understand that it is between Beaches and Coral Gardens. I have appreciated your help in the past and hope that this will give you (or anyone else) enough information to help with this question. |
hi prizren, i am so excited for you. i have been looking at those houses for couple years, but have not been to provo with a large enough group. you have a good location! i will be at windows a la mar, mid march to april 2. it is near turtle cove marina.
my best advice (having done villas on provo twice) is get the van and keep it the whole time. it's not like there are 100's of things to go do, but you will want to go out to check some stuff out. go to other places on island to snorkel, go out for meals, etc. villa ppl seem to be a bit more independent than some travelers and i bet you will like the freedom to go anywhere you want at the exact moment you are ready as opposed to when the taxi finally shows up. don't know how you go to the beach somewhere and get them to come back for you? would you have to pay them to sit while you were in the grocery for 45 mins? also, it sounds like you would need 2 taxis to move your group and while i have not taken a provo taxi i assume it is as expensive as everything else in the islands. not to mention how cool you will feel picking up the rest of your family at the airport - just like a local. lol. the gecko def goes by your houses, but it would not have a stop there so you would probably have to walk someplace to get on. have a wonderful vacation! i can't wait to hear what you thought of tyler houses. please post a trip report when you get home. |
Thanks, Baloma for your usual good advice. We're escited and can hardly wait.
