POST BAR EXAM VACATION
 

My daughter takes the bar at the end of July. We want to vacation somewhere on a great beach, excellent food, upscale hotel. Where to go in August? Hurricane concerns?

I'd consider St. Barts-- you can find nice offseason rates that time of year (and the beaches and food are incredible).

Aruba is nice this time of year, and is outside of the hurricane belt as well. It has some upper scale resorts- though I don't think they're on the par of St. Barts if that's the kind of upscale you meant.

The weather was about 80 (higher, but the tradewind makes it so it's rarely hot and unbearable) and not muggy. Beaches weren't crowded, and in some areas of the island there were plenty of huts. Others had none, you just have to look.

The food was good, nothing I'd say was heaven on earth or anything- but I can be picky about food. All of the places we ate at were very reasonable in price, and most had good atmosphere, though none were outside of the typical tourists' path.

there are several upscale hotels. turks & caicos club, the somerset, grace bay club, point grace, the regent palms or parrot cay which is on a private island just east of provo. this link has a review of most of above hotels by fodors resident provo expert: http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...chText=blamona

provo does not have much nightlife so if dd/brand new lawyer wants to party at night this might not be a good choice. they do offer good snorkeling & world class diving. a very relaxing/laid back atmosphere.

you can find trip insurance that covers hurricane problems.

Anguilla! Carnival and the boat races are the first week in August. The beaches are phenomenal, food is excellent. "Big 3" hotels are Cap Juluca (my favorite), Malliouana, and CuisinArt. There are also other good hotels and villas. For a change of pace, take a day trip to St. Martin
