Port of Call: Grand Cayman

We are on a cruise. Thinking of doing a snorkeling excursion - which will leave about 4 hours to explore the port area.

Any recommendations for must see's? Or places to eat? Or grab a great beverage? :)

Thanks in advance! 8-)

we had a fabulous meal on the porch at guy harvey's in georgetownn. next door is his art gallery and store. sometimes you'll actually find him upstairs working.

you could easily find another spot to snorkel and have time for a nice lunch.
did not go but ppl like the wharf. it further north on seven mile (not far from cemetary beach to snorkel)

DO not go to the turtle farm I thought it was a rip off...

We ate at a nice restaurant that looked like a light house.. The Wharf was nice, the Conch I think it's downtown Georgetown..

We did a catamaran trip to the reef.. I would do one to the sand bar if you could...

Hopefully your snorkeling excursion includes a stop at Sting Ray City. It is THE must do on Grand Cayman. Plenty of shopping and restaurants in George Town. If you don't feel like leaving downtown, which I suggest you do explore a bit, skip the formula restaurants and try Guy Harvey's as suggested above. A nice beach other than Seven Mile Beach is Smith Cove. Need to take a short taxi rise and but there are no amenities other than a washroom/changing room and some picnic tables. But very beautiful IMO.

The Wharf is actually a few miles from Cemetery Beach, on the SMB/George Town border. It has a nice view, but some folks think the food is fair and tends towards the tacky touristy side of dining establishments. Another suggestion for a similar setting, but slightly more refined spot to eat is the Grand Old House, next to Smith Cove. The Cracked Conch and MacaBuca bar is even farther from the port, located in West Bay near the Turtle Farm. MacaBuca has a nice outdoor area and great conch fritters. With some snorkeling available right from their patio. The Lighthouse is located about 30 minutes from the port in the opposite direction from all places previously mentioned. Love it, but with limited time in port you probably should stick to considering closer options.

hope I haven't missed your stop - but definitely go to Stingray City sandbar; Sunset is great place in town for casual dining - a dive hangout..

I would head to 7 mile beach to Calico Jacks. Great jerk while sitting on the beach! You can swim right from there & enjoy a few caybrews afterwards.

Sting Ray City the absolute highlight of our 6 day stay. We went to the sandbar via a catamaran (see link.) This site is atuned to the cruiselines' arrival/departure times.
