Please help with honeymoon
 

Hi everyone! we are getting married in May and are planning for our honeymoon in late May to Aruba. Can you please tell me if its a good time to be going to Aruba? Also, we ahve narrowed down two hotels: Bucuti and Renaissance, can you please tell me your prefrence and why? We are in our early 30's and want to be some where warm and quiet, have the options to have a drink or two at the pool or beach. We are really going there for relaxation, so any assistance will be highly appreciated it! We are traveling from NYC. Thank you in advance!! :)

First of all, congratulations on your upcoming marriage. And yes, May is a wonderful time to go to Aruba. We have been going every April or May for the last 30 years! The days are a little longer then and you can stay on the beach until 7 or so and watch the sunset. Both hotels are nice, but are you aware that the Renaissance is in town and not on the beach. You would have to take a boat to their private island. Bucuti is a small, quiet hotel on a beautiful beach. I have never stayed at either hotel, I know the Renaissance has a pool (you can see it from the main road) but I don't remember seeing a pool at the Bucuti when we walked around there in November.

Thank you, Shirleyk!! I wasn't aware that Renaissance was in town and not on the beach. I want to stay on the beach, so I guess Bucuti will work better for us. Pool is not a big issue to us, as long as it's on a beach and we can relax. Thank you!!!

Hi! We are traveling to Aruba on the 21st of Feb and will be staying at the Bucuti. I picked it after doing a lot of on-line research. It is a more "boutique" hotel on a quieter, less crowded beach. Take a look at their website www.bucuti.com and you can get loads of info including postings of previous vacationers. I will let you know if it lives up to our expectations when we return. (I do know that they have a pool, but I don't think it is anything special. But their beach...that is what attracted me and the fact that they discourage bringing children.

My husband and I stayed at Bucuti for our honeymoon in 2005! It was the best decision for us because, it was relaxing, secluded, and definitly an adult resort. It has the most beautiful and largest beach in Aruba. The Renaissance is a gorgeous hotel, however it is in the high rise section, which tends to be very crowded.

Some notes about Bucuti...
1) It is a must to stay in the Tara Suites, if you are going to splurge on anything do it there@
2) Also they have a great honeymoon package! You get one great dinner on the beach (you are only one of 3 tables right on the beach) plus other fun stuff like a snorkel and sunset sail.
3) The Tara suites have their own conceirge and they are so accommodating. They can make all dinner and activity reservations for you!
