Please help? should I stay in Montego bay? Nov.2000 trip hurry!
Ok, Hi everyone. I've posted messages before when I was in need of help so here I go again. My sister and I are going to Jamaica in November 13-19 (hurricane season... will it be a problem?) Should we stay in Montego bay or Ocho Rios??? We were looking into Mobay because we heard there's more to do there clubs, restaurants, sites etc. right now our hotel choices are Coyaba, Doctor's cave and Wyndham rose????? we're on a budget so we didn't do all inclusive is this wise? How important is it to be at a hotel that’s on gloucester? Thanks for your responses.

I haven't lodged in Montego Bay but have driven through. Personally, I thing Ocho Rios is a much nicer town. There's also alot going on there as well. There are different clubs, restaurants, etc. Getting around in Ocho Rios is definately a more plesant experience.

Haven't been to Ocho, but if you do MoBay I recommend that you not pick the Wyndham. It's a nice hotel, but it's 10 miles from town and you won't have much choice but to eat at the hotel most of the time (which is expensive). In town you can find lots of inexpensive dining options. Also, the beaches in town (esp. Doctor's Cave Beach) are better than the one at the Wyndham. MoBay does require some care when you're wandering around, esp. after dark.
Hurricanes unlikely in November, but not impossible.

Melody,
I've been to Jamaica twice. The first trip was to Montego Bay and we stayed os the Holiday Inn. The second was thru Super CLubs and we stayed at the Sans Souci. The only way to go to Jamaica is with an all inclusive. Super Clubs have great resorts and afforadable pricing. I really suggest an all inclusive.

I think any Atlantic Hurricanes are largely gone by November.
I'll throw in my $.02 for Negril - very accessible nightlife at the beach bars and cliff restaurants. Good mix of tourists, ex-pats and locals too, more so than in MoBay in my opinion.
You can also get a nicer place for the money in Negril, especially if you stay on the cliffs.
Negril is a great place to NOT go A/I - all the fun stuff is open to the public. Lots of people who go A/I in Negril wonder why they did since they wanted to eat and drink and hang out on the beach with everyone else.
