Please help. Re: St. Lucia.
 

We're getting married in St. Lucia in November of 2000. I've heard great things about the island from listening to this chat site. I would love to hear about nightlife since that hasn't .

I am also very interested in hearing about St.Lucia, I am planning a honeymoon at the Hyatt. I have seen the Hyatt in Aruba and Grand Cayman and loved them both. <BR>ARe the beaches white sand and crystal clear water near the Hyatt?

<BR>St. Lucia's sand is dark, almost black (volcanic island). Any white sand you find will have been shipped in. Don't know about the Hyatt. I have heard rumours that most of the Hyatts have sand shipped in. Wonder where it comes from?? I did notice a BIG difference in sand on the Grand Cayman Hyatt's beach, compared to everywhere else on Seven Mile. You can literally close your eyes & tell when you've left Hyatt's beachfront because of the change underfoot. Wierd. Surely pretty, though. <BR> <BR>Oh, St. Lucia. Not much nightlife except at the hotels. It's not an island to be prowling around at night on anyway. Gorgeous island, but off the resorts, you'll be painfully aware of the poverty of those sweet people.

LOVE St. Lucia! The best place to stay there is Anse Chastanet. It is not a big resort like Sandals, etc, but it is gorgeous. Accomodations are bungalos (suites) nestled on the side of a mountain. The suites are gorgeous, the beach beautiful and they have a shuttle to the Castries (main city - not too much to see there. You eat al fresco and the menu changes nightly. We are in the restaurant business and the food was amazing. This place is a trek to get to, but well worth it! Good Luck!

Paul, <BR> <BR>Thanks for the info! That is great the Hyatt has sand shipped in. What did you think of Grand Cayman? When I was there, they were building an addition to the Hyatt so they could have beachfront rooms. I saw a picture on the Hyatt website for St. Lucia, it looks like the water is pretty turquoise. Is it really? I love the caribbean clear water, if the sand is dark, how could the water be clear? I just dont want to be disappointed in the beach. I like to see down to my feet in the water.

<BR>Kristin, the Hyatt wasn't there when I was there. I was musing that if the sand is white, it's definitely from someplace else. Water at Anse Chastenet was clear enough to snorkel, but certainly not the giant swimming pool-look that the water on Grand Cayman has. <BR> <BR>I think you'll like St. Lucia. A very romantic place to start your married life. <BR> <BR>About the Hyatt Cayman's beachfront suites. They look kind of ugly to me on the outside, but I assume they are spectacular inside at the prices I heard (800 to 1500 per nite). The little blue cabana chairs needed refurbishing last year, looking kinda rough at the edges, but I do love them.

You won't be disapointed with the water, it was crystal clear when we were there last week. <BR>Just paddle up to your knees, look down and see all the fish trying to nibble your toes. <BR>Yes, they have shipped sand in and it lokks fantastic!!

Ladies. I concur on both counts. St. Lucia's water doesn't compare to Cayman if you're looking for that clear, clear green. It's also a wonderfully romantic island & you won't be disappointed. Go! Enjoy! Congratulations! <BR> <BR>Hal

Kristin: <BR> <BR>I stayed at the Hyatt for part of my honeymoon in June and thought is was just beautiful. It is very elegant and has the best staff and the service was impecable! The pool is to die for, just fabulous. it has a very nice white sand beach (imported sand) but who cares. You can walk to pigeon Island which is a must. The restauratns were great and the food great too. You will love it.

It is like being at creation. we went over to "Anse and it was nice but the views there are not anything as wonderful as it is from the rooms at Ladera. We thought St. Lucia was very lush and interesting,the water is clear and silky,but we missed the terguoise greens and blues,that make us love the caribbean.If you are use to that you may be disappoined.
