PLEASE HELP...????Destination

My wife and I are trying to plana trip ASAP(end of May) and cannot decide on a destination. For what its worth we stayed on St. john for a week , rented a jeep, snorkeled and absolutely loved it. We would like - 1) good snorkeling from the beach and its ok if better snorkeling requires a boat trip, 2) Ability to fly fish 3) SCUBA diving opportunities 4) and prefer the mountainous landscape of the Virgin islands. We have thought about Belize/Caymans/ or rpt trip to VI, prob BVI's. Would like to get thoughts from anyone who had the same requirements for their trip, went somewhere and had a blast. Thanks for the comments ahead of time.

Caymans do not have the mountainous landscape, but we very much enjoyed our trip there. The snorkeling was great from shore and on a boat trip that we took, and my DH and DD loved the scuba diving trip they took. The restaurants were good and the people friendly. It was a very nice relaxing vacation and would return.

agree caymans might be a good choice for you. tons of snorkeling and excellent scuba.
virgin gorda would also offer very good snorkeling and the more mountainous/lush scenery you're looking for.
not sure about fly fishing on either island.
there is excellent bone fishing from provo, turks & caicos. provo also has good snorkeling and very good diving, but is flat & arid like grand cayman.
you might repost your question on the latin america board to get info on belize.

I'd recommend Virgin Gorda. Take a look at Guavaberry Spring Bay as a resort. They offer accommodations with kitchens, and some have a/c.

I think you should take a look at Belize. From the northern cayes, there isn't much walk in snorkeling, but the reef is close, less than half a mile out. As long as you're not in the center of town, you can kayak out there and snorkel.

There's also fly fishing.

Certainly no mountains on the cayes though.

There are also cayes right on the reef with walk in snorkeling and good fishing. No town though.

The way you wrote your post, where you trying to combine Belize with /Caymans?
I have been to all the above mentioned places, and second Virgin Gorda, it has everything you're looking for. I love St. John, but I love Virgin Gorda more. Fly fishing might be the hardest to find, the best being in Turks and Caicos, they have flats made for fly fishing, as do the Bahamas. Belize has fly fishing, the best snorkeling, but just okay beaches.

Thanks all for the input. We have pretty much decided on Virgin Gorda ( May fish on Anegeda for a day). Now having trouble narrowing down where to stay, have read reviews here and elsewhere but wanted some opinions. We are looking at Mango Bay Resort, Leverick Bay, Nail Bay properties, and Guavaberry properties(are they on the beach?). Any thoughts on these or other suggestions would be welcomed. Tryin not top spend over 300 USD/night.

Also would love to hear any "must do's." Have already been to the baths. We plabn to rent a jeep for the week we are there. We are go getters and love to explore.

Thanks for everyone's input.
