mah1980,
I cannot beleive you have planned out your vacation minute by minute! Just by doing that you are creating a major stress factor! You have a schedule, just like at home....you know the thing we go on vacation to escape! Now this is just my opinion of course everyone travels differently....however when I travel I pretty much book the flights, lodging and car if needed and go, plans while there are made as they come. We always do extensive research before we go to know all the possibilities but always know we can never do all and never stress over that.....do what we feel like at the moment, if we miss something perhaps we'll return is the mindset. Enjoy your travels and most of all relax.....if you over plan and don't do all you'll come home disappointed and thats no good.

I haven't planned the vacation out minute by minute. Since I've never been to Turks and Caicos, the general purpose of asking for critiques of our itinerary is to ensure that we know where to eat at, who to take a snorkel cruise with, etc.

Whenever I travel I allow flexibility in the schedule to throw out certain plans in favor of something else. I'm by no means married to the itinerary. Also, it's not stressful to me to plan a vacation. For me that's also fun. I like reading and learning about new places that I haven't been to yet.

I think it boils down to different strokes for different folks.

mah1980,
I hear ya, thats exactly how we plan vacations. We do extensive research on what to see, perhaps where to eat but typically do that on the fly. You are absolutely right, that is sometimes the most fun! I might suggest to you to wipe out the day by day itinerary and just make a list of possible sights and activities but always keeping in mind you usually can't do it all. Keep a list of any recommended restaurants and or other tips on the area. Best to talk to locals when you arrive you get a far better dump. Be relaxed, go with the flow and if you miss something you can go back is our motto. Happy travels.

I agree with the list suggestion. That is what we do. List out activities, restaurants that we want to visit and take it from there. I never thought an itinerary was necessarey for an island vacation...but more so for a European vacation, which yes, last year when we went to Europe...we had an itin. very similar to yours. But with only a few days here and there, it was the only way to assure we were doing excatly what we wnat.

Either way, you will have a blast no dobut. We are so looking forward to our vacation...the 21st to the 28th of May! Is it the 20th yet?

I understand your need to plan at that level of detail. I used to be that detailed too. It gives 'us' a sense of order. Those sponteneous folks don't understand us. I'm a little better now and I just try to have a general daily plan.

One thing I would add/change to your itinery is a boat trip to the middle caicos (I think its middle not north). It's an all day trip, but its very relaxing. The water along the way is unbelievable gorgeous. Sometimes so shallow and translucent its hard to resist diving in. We saw a couple of dolphins along the way and one of them actually chased our boat for a while. On the island we had a nice lunch along a pretty beach that started with an 'M'. Visited a cave. Stopped a couple of times for a swim on the way and on the way back. I don't remember if we snorkeled. I only remember that it was one of the best tours I've ever taken.

Howard's suggestions are great. I love Magnolia. If you can't make it there for dinner you could pop up there for a nice sunset drink on their deck before your dinner at Tiki Hut. It's on a hill right above Tiki Hut. Or go up there after Tiki Hut for dessert and coffee! Wonderful views of Turtle Cove from there.
