Playa Del Carmen or Mazatlan
Some girlfriends and I (35-40) want to get away in February! I have been to Playa but not to Mzt! Which would have a fun night life and good food, beaches etc.... for our long weekend get away!

We've been to Playa twice, but not Mazatlan. If you've already been to Playa and want to try the West Coast, look at Puerta Vallarta. They have tons of resturants, bars and nightlife similar 5th Avenue in Playa, but much less expensive. We're booked for a 4 day weekend in December and got an excellant deal. Much less than what we paid for Playa in Sept.
The beaches on the West Coast will not be a nice as the Caribbean side, but that doesn't matter to us this trip.

Have been to playa for the same type of trip and are planning to return to Playa again this year for the girlfriend trip. It was a perfect place with lots to do although the beach and nightlife was all we had time for. I have also heard Puerta Vallarta is wonderful. It's just not as easy of a flight for a long weekend---no directs from DC area. You could also look at Isla Mujeres. It will be a bit more laid back than Playa, but fits all the requirements and is a short ferry ride from Cancun. Have a blast. I don't know if I can wait till mother's day for our trip....maybe we will join you in Feb.
