Anyone with a rec on a hotel, possibly all inclusive, in Playa del carmen. Not the most expensive, definately not the cheapo stuff for 3-5 days in december.

El Dorado Royale; it's in between Playa and Cancun. All inclusive adults only, food great-four restaurants to choose from, beautiful rooms, all with jacuzzis, marble floors, fridges stocked with water. And a spa. The beach is rocky but still a joy to hang out on. They have a salt water pool right on the beach. Swim up bars at 2 of the pools, but not a loud party atmosphere. Not too expensive. We loved it.

Riu Playacar, which is an AI. It is right in the middle of the Playacar area. The beach was very nice and the food was good. You can also use the facilities at the other Riu resorts in the area.

I have been to Playa twice in the past 3 years, it is a great destination. Stayed once at Allegro Playacar and once at Riu Playacar. Both very nice places and booked both through travelzoo.com. They have great deals on this website- give it a look.
