Plane Crash today on St. Barth

My thoughts are with those who died today in the crash at the airport on St. Barth. I understand that the plane was attempting to land at the airport and crashed into a building and went down.

There were 20 passengers and crew on board and none survived the crash.

My heart goes out to their families and friends.

I am sure that all the passengers were looking forward to a wonderful time on island and St. Barth is truly a beautiful island.

Please join me in saying a short prayer for all those who passed today that their time here is over and that they have a peaceful rest.

Tweedy - My husband ran across the story on the CNN website (top story) and of course, it caught his eye. We're leaving for our next trip there in three weeks. Although the landing there has it's own special reputation we've never had any problems and have always rather enjoyed it. Now...I don't know. Our heartfelt sympathies and prayers to the victims families and loved ones. What a terrible tragedy to have occurred on such a wonderful, wonderful island

Most news reports say it was a mechanical failure, rather than the landing. One witness said the plane rose up very, very high, then seemed to lose its fuel-feed and dove, nose-first.

There is an investigation going on now.
Let's face it, you always have to wonder about maintenance any time you climb into any small plane. It doesn't seem, at least so far, that the difficult St. Barts landing was the reason here.

Do you know if the plane was a private
one or which airline? Going there in
3 weeks as well. TIA

It was Air Caraibes #1501
