Places to stay in Nevis/St.Kitts

Where would you stay if you had to choose between the Marriott, Birdrock Beach, Timothy Beach or Ocean Terrace in St.Kitts? Also, how about in Nevis - The Eualie, Golden Rock, Cades Bay? We will be renting a car. Fancy places are not important as much as convenience to natural explorations. We were thinking about staying 3 nights in each place. What about that?

I would not stay at the Marriott. Ut simply overwhelms the beauty and feel of the island.

I've heard a lot of good things about OTI.

On Nevis, much depends on whether you want beach or mountains. Both Oualie and Cades are on nice stretches of quiet beach. (I think the Cades Bay beach is prettier, but Oualie has more happening and more facilities.)

I don't think three nights in each place is enough, but that's just me. It takes a long time to get there, and two days would be spent just traveling there and back.

On our last trip to Nevis, we were there for two weeks and still did not see all we planned to see and do.

I would stay at least 4 nights on each island of you can.

It's always difficult to make recommendations since one never really knows what the other person wants. that said, stay at the Marriott if you want a big hotel, casino, and all that comes with a major resort. Stay at Timothy Beach or Bird Rock if you want smaller and simpler Caribbean style accomodations. Stay at OTI if you want a clean and comfortable place close to town.

On Nevis Oualie Beach is a moderate beachfront resorts with on-site watersports facilities and a calm water swimming beach. The Inn at Cades Bay offers decent size rooms that are comfortably appointed but far from luxurious. It's a very quite compared to Oualie Beach. The Cades Bay beach is attractive with views of the setting sun. Golden Rock is up in the mountains. Staying there is like stepping bacck in time and being a guest at Sugar Plantation. The rain forest trail known as The source starts at Golden Rock.

If you go to www.nevis1.com and click on the lodging link you will find a detailed unbiased review of all the hotels on Nevis. It will help you decide which works best for you.

The Marriott and The Angelus are on the Atlantic side.(rough water)The OTI is nice but in town. You will need a car. Birdrock is close to town, is more suited for diving people and not much of a beach. Timothy Beach Resort is a condo hotel directly on the Caribbean beach.

We just returned from St.Kitts and stayed at the Angelus Resort. We had a nice room with kitchen facilities. You need to bring food with you unless you rent a car. The beach was nice for snorkeling. The Marriott was beautiful.
