jackie: Johnny Depp definitely makes the movie better. He is always so funny as Captain Jack.
Now, if I could just get a vacation in a luxury resort on that beach.....

Everyone mentioning St. Lucia...I was thinking so, too! I'm positive I saw the Pitons at the beginning, and a lot of the mountains looked like St. Lucia, as well. I was there in February, and also did a land/sea tour, and I do remember tour guides mentioning that there were parts of the movie filmed there. When we were on the boat, we passed a ship, to which the driver said, "that's a ship used in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies." Which one(s), I don't know, but I thought it was cool :] and I definitely think some of the scenery was St. Lucia.

As for that scene, opening the chest, I think it was St. Vincent, only because I saw on a travel show highlighting St. V and the Grenadines that the islands were used in filming the sequels, and, well...that beach...looked very similar. And gorgeous!

Loved the movie!! :]
Johnny Depp is amazing.

COmeback - that's EXACTLY what we were told on the tour that we were on. I actually posted about this a couple of weeks ago and like you said, the tour guide even pointed out a ship and said that it was used for the movie. I believe she also told us that it was being used for "Pirate Cruises" for tourist who were so inclined. I've never been able to find anything about any of the film being done in St. Lucia though.

I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who thought so.

Saw the movie last evening. If I'm correct the scenes in the beginning when Will and Elizabeth are arrested were filmed on the original set in St. Vincent. The scenes done in the mountains where it is very lush and green as well as the black sand beaches most likely Dominica and possibly some of St. Vincent. The beach where the chest was recovered had to be the Bahamas. I have yet to see large wide white sand beaches with little vegetation in the Grenadines, even Tobago Cays.

Loved the scenary but the islands in the southern Caribbean are my favorites so I'm a tad biased. Special effects and who ever did the make-up especially the sea creatures and Davy Jones should be nominated for an Oscar.
Can definitely see Johnny's take on Keith Richards in his portrayal of Jack.

Red Sox fan? Me? Noooo wayyy. Haha.
(I think I'm one of the few who doesn't hate Johnny Damon, but I HATE Coco Crisp and hope the Sox are kicking themselves for letting Johnny walk away.)
And sorry it took such a long time for a reply!
