Peter Island question
How's the water at Peter Island resort? Is it calm, as in NO waves, like a big swimming pool? That's what I'm looking for, and would love to try a private island resort. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm interested in replies to this, too.

I was there for a day in March; there were big waves and the water seemed a tad rough. It is definitely "not like a big swimming pool". The beach was fantastic and the resort was excellent.

Usually like a bathtub both at Deadman's and White Bay. Beautiful calm and float for hours.

It really depends on what time of year you are traveling. In the summer (assuming there is no hurricane or tropical wave passing through), there is the slightest swell and tiny lapping wavelets in Deadman's Bay (the main beach area). In the winter, however, the ground swell and the Christmas winds make the water a little more stirred up. It is easily one of the loveliest beaches in the Caribbean, but dead calm it is not.

We were recently there for a week and the water ranged from virtually flat to small waves that lapped the shore. It wasn't like a lake, but compared to the beaches on the east coast that we are used to, Peter Island's beaches were calm and easy to swim/float in. No strong currents.

We loved the resort - would go back without doubt.
