Passover in Caribbean

Message: Passover begins at sundown on Wedensday, April 19th, just two weeks away. I decided to post this in case anyone could benefit from it. True, it's very late now, but some of these may still have last-minute availability, you never know so it pays to inquire.

(Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with any of this businesses and take no responsibility for any aspect of any of the products and services they offer.)

Presidential Kosher Holidays
http://www.passovervacations.com/
Runs Passover programs at the Hyatt Dorado Beach and the El Conquistador in
Puerto Rico, the Wyndham Aruba and the Scottsdale Princess in Arizona.

Noah--

I am going on vacation during passover (after the two seders). I felt somewhat guilty going during that time but now that I am going to Puerto Rico and with your post, I am feeling overwhelming guilt. Thanks!! : )))

Dear Guilty:
Obviously you are not going to be alone if "Passover Programs" are being run by hotels/resorts. Go and enjoy. If you are feeling really verklempt (sp?) take a flight to St. Thomas and go to the oldest temple in North America. Steep hill getting to it.

Dear Guilty,

That is exactly what a cousin of mine told me when she went yachting in the Virgin Islands a few years ago during Passover.

If you have travel insurance that would cover the full-amount of a last-minute cancellation, then perhaps you would want to consider asking if one of the programs has any availiblity left and changing your plans.

Otherwise, you may want to see if you can join one of the Puerto Rico programs for a meal and maybe for synagogue services one day. The programs run between April 19-26 and it is possible that they will have something for the following Sabbath, April 27-28.

I'd be interested in hearing about it if you do.

Best wishes for a happy holiday and a great trip,

Noah

I believe the oldest synagogue in North America is in Curacao which we visited when we were there. I may be wrong, but I thought I read that....

Bette, you could be right. I know it is the oldest - perhaps just the United States, not North America
