Would LOVE to see Jimmy in Anguilla...but I'll just have to hope he returns to Jones Beach on Long Island instead! Seeing him on a beautiful tropical island would be PERFECT!!!!
|
OK, Parrot Heads. I love his song "Cheeseburger In Paradise". Decades ago, he was sailing through the Caribbean and hit some rough seas. When the storm blew over, he ate yuch food for a week, including canned food and peanut butter/crackers. They finally hit a town on a Caribbean island, which I've been to. He was dreaming of "piping hot cheeseburgers" for a week, and incredibly, this pub/restaurant served cheeseburgers, thus, the song was born. Trivia time. Who can name the town and island it's on?? If you're correct, you will receive admiration from the rest of the posters. Robert59
|
Anybody know the answer to the trivia above? I'll give the answer tomorrow if nobody knows by then. I'll bet many of the posters have ventured to this island and its capital city. Robert59
|
The answer is Road Town, Tortola, BVI.
|
"...we gave particular instructions to the waiter on how we wanted them cooked and what we wanted on them -- to which little attention was paid. It didn't matter. The overdone burgers on the burned, toasted buns tasted like manna from heaven, for they were the realization of my fantasy burgers on the trip." J.B.

Caribbeansoul; You are the winner! I enjoyed the hairpin roads around Tortola. Robert59

I'm staying right at Cane Garden Bay in June :-) I'll be having that Cheeseburger in Paradise up in Road Town! wooo hoooo
|
Rumor has it that the 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' that JB had was at Stanleys in Cane Garden Bay...
|
He just took off from St Barts five minutes ago. Can't miss his plane.....
|
littleSalty; you'll love Cane Garden Bay. Great snorkeling and nice bands in the beachside pubs at night. Hit the BombaShack down the road. Robert59

Son and buddies wanted to go see Jimmy Buffet in Pittsburgh - needed 8 tickets. Yesterday tickets went on sale 10am Monday. Long story so I won't go into every detail... I was ready and tried buying tickets the second they went on sale. Ticket sales system kept searching and searching .... for 21 minutes. Then told me there were no tickets avaiable. Went to another site... ended up getting 1 pavillion seat then searched again and got 1 more pavillion seat. Then they were also sold out. The pavillion seats are about 3 times the price of lawn.
So took about 35 minutes and got 2 tickets -paid a fortune. Got pavillion but son will sit on lawn (more fun). Then typed in Jimmy Buffet Pittsburg on search engine - tons of sites had hundreds of tickets for sale. Of course at greatly inflated prices. No wonder I could not get the tickets - the scalpers got them. I hate ticket scalpers -- hope they can NEVER get tickets to anything they want to attend. |
Here in Pittsburgh it happens every year. The venue is great unless it rains. Be prepared for traffic and then some.

All righteeee!
This parrothead's going to see Mr. Buffett TOnight! The Bama Breeze tour - anybody seen it? And more importantly, has anybody tasted his Margaritville tequila yet? Any good? Should I pass on the Patron for his new stuff? <insert Parrot smiley here!> |
Hi Joan,
Have a GREAT time!!! We saw Bama Breeze twice this summer-in Camden, NJ and Atlantic City, NJ. Almost went to the one tonight too, but couldn’t swing it with work. It’s a great show (as they all are). He does a very cool remix with a Bob Marley song too. Try the Landshark Lager-mmmm...very similar to Corona. And the Margaritaville tequila is great too. Enjoy, and let us know how it went! |
Thanks, kellybeches!
I'm off!!! Now, where did I put that salt... |
I'm jealous, love Jimmy. We saw his show last September in Michigan. It POURED for the entire outdoor show. He and the Coral Reefers played for about 2.5 hours. Very wet but great time had by all. BTW, the Anguilla concert DVD is now available on his website.
|
Ooh, I found the salt.
And the tequila found me! Show was great. It rained a little when we first arrived, but then the sun and the breezes prevailed. I really like that Ford Ampitheatre. The tailgating is really something to see, isn't it? Who knew you could power a blender with a chain saw?! Jimmy was introduced by none other than our own Governor Charlie Crist. Kelly, you were right, the Bob Marley songs were sweet - Peter Mayer did a nice job on Waiting in Vain, and Redemption Song was lovely too. There is one more show in our town Sat night, Jimmy said it will be the last of the tour - "thanks everyone for a great summer job!" |
just back from the show in Tampa tonight (11/3). excellent venue...great concert. wish he would lay off some of the covers and play some of his originals a bit more. the pre-show tailgate was a party to remember forever! wrapped up the show with tin cup chalice...great finish! fins up!
|
Hey CS, are you at the folks house in Florida?? Glad you had fun. Tin Cup Chalice, one of my favorite tunes. I wanna go back to the islands..... I will be soon. 19 days til back to STJ.
|
Hi Brenda! Yes, my son and I are in the midst of an elongated boys weekend at my parent's house. We are off to Anna Maria Island to hit the beach! Beautiful weather we have had! The Gulf Beaches are gorgeous down here. Enjoy your trip to STJ! I am most jealous, of course.
