Overwhelmed by choices

Please help me pick a destination. I am looking for an island getaway in mid-May, for a couple. We like quiet, private and beautiful. Easy access to good snorkeling is key, but we are not snorkel snobs. We also like to hike and bike. We will be flying out of Toronto, Ontario, and want to keep our budget for a week to between $5,000 and $6,000, including airfare, meals, transfers, etc. We are looking at St Lucia (Ti Kaye), St John USVI (renting a villa), Tortola (villa or Long Bay resort), and Turks & Caicos (no idea). St Lucia is beautiful, but tough (and therefore expensive) to get around. St John is beautiful, but must rent a vehicle and we're a little freaked out by the driving on the left thing. Not sure if the snorkeling on Tortola will be good. Concerned that T&C will end up being too expensive. We need help!

on provo (T&C) look at these villas. they are very nice, well built & cared for. in mid may - corainder cottage is $2800, nutmeg for $3000, ballyhoo or callaloo for $3200. these are all right on grace bay beach by smith's reef which has best off beach snorkeling on island. provo does not have much hike or bike. i think it's beautiful but it is flat & arid.
st. john has excellent snorkeling plus you can take excursions to various bvi snorkel spots. has great hiking in the park. more lush, hilly.
have not been to st. lucia but it's large & driving is known to be a challenge & is not known for great snorkeling.
have only been on tortola briefly so don't know much.
driving on left is not as difficult as you'd think. just do what everybody else does.

St. John has great wade-in and off-boat snorkeling in many places. Driving on left not difficult.

Virgin Gorda is much more laid back .Check nailbay resort for some great Villas(beach front and hillside) and they have some affordable apartments too. Nail Bay has three beautiful beaches , Mountain Trunk Beach at nailbay is one of the best beach for snorkeling.Gorda national park is only a few minutes from nailbay and perfect for hiking. It will be around 30 minutes hike from the gorda national park parking.
