Out Island choice?
 
Husband and I are planning a trip in July 07 and will be travelling with our daughters, ages 8 and 18. We all love beautiful beaches, but our main interest this trip is snorkelling and diving. We've travelled extensively..to other Caribbean islands, Cental America and Hawaii and in all our travels have not seen a reef more beautiful than one we saw in Bermuda 25 years ago. I understand tours no longer go to this off shore reef,as it is protected. But, hands down, it was the most spectacular experience...worthy of Jacques Costeau

Is there anywhere in the Out Islands that will provide a reasonable facsimile to our Bermuda experience? Namely, vividly colored and healthy reefs with abundant marine life?

We are looking at the Abacos or Eleuthera, since these also offer other diversions, but have not ruled out Long Island,

Any input is greatly appreciated, even if it's not related to the Bahamas!

Andos Island has the third largest barrier reef in the world after Australia and Belize/Honduras.Resorts are few that have A/C except Kamalalae Caye but it is a rip off at ~$1000/day and up. It is an all-inclusive for the very wealthy. They just raised their rates by about $200/day for 2007.

We just returned from a wonderful snorkel/dive trip to Roatan, Honduras with our 17 year old daughter and stayed at Reef House Resort. Check the reviews on TripAdvisor; they are quite accurate. For more specific information, post your email address and we can be in touch.
